Default The Curve 8330 & HTML Viewer "Empower"

Please Login to Remove!

I am seeking information before I spend my hard earned money on an HTML program to view all my emails on my brand new Curve 8330. I was informed over at Handango that the 8330 and the progam 'Empower", which from reports is an excellent HTML viewer, are NOT compatible. So I ask this question, is there a person on this forum who has either attempted or currently using Empower with their 8330, and if you have either heard or personally experienced any technical problems with it? Thank you everyone for your support.

Regards,

It works perfectly on my 8330. Try it, you'll like it and you'll want to buy it.

I would wait till the weekend is over and see what happens with the RIM update you may well get it free.

Wirelessly posted

I am with Dawg, not much sense paying for something that will soon be free as part of the OS. Unless you REALLY need it, you're better off pulling up a chair and waiting with the rest of us.

But there is no news that BIS 2.5 is next weekend, as a matter of fact, none of the North American scheduled maintenance notices for next weekend mention the 2.5 upgrade.

correct joe but its worth waiting to see what happens. Just trying to save a fellow member some cash in this economic slow down. Maybe he can buy a gallon of gas with what he saves lol

I understand that. But I am just making sure that indications that BIS 2.5 will be working next weekend are weighed the fact that nothing has been promised and there aren't many hints at it yet, either.

I know, but it is still speculation. The Asia upgrade this weekend specifically stated the outage was for BIS 2.5 upgrade. The North American notices for next weekend do not state that.

YMMV.

I would download the trial for empower and when that runs out download the trial for BB Smart email viewer. Maybe by the time they both run out, you won't have to pay for either. I used both trials and they both worked well - albeit a little slow but I think that was because it was just a trial.

Another feature of Empower that I really like is that you can add emails as appointments or tasks for follow up. I don't think thats something being talked about as a RIM upgrade yet. Now, if only they would allow you to do it SMS it would be perfect
