Default Will Verizon unlock GPS if new iPhone has it?

Please Login to Remove!

So, they are announcing the new iPhone this afternoon that "might" have a gps on it. Anyone think (or have any insight on) if this will encourage Verizon to unlock their Curve GPS to stay competitive. Apologies if this has been discussed already ad infinitum.

their GPS works fine with their app, why would they care if the iPhone has it?

If it's free on the iPhone, it might be one more reason for people to switch to AT&T. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part...I don't have (in NYC) a car right now, so I wouldn't use the GPS often enough to pay for it every month, but would love to have it just in case.

Vzw is now the largest carrier in the country again. and sell more BBs than anyone else worldwide. It is hard to believe they care what the iPhone is doing GPS wise. They have the 9500 and the 9000 coming in a few months. They will sell just like they always have.

A much more likely influence would be the open handset alliance thing they joined. That may take some time for them to actually do anything with it, but that *might* change their minds on the GPS.
