Default Ringtones stopping short after about 3 seconds

My ringtones now, for some reason, are ringing for 3 seconds, pausing for about 2, then ringing again for 3 and repeating the same process over and over. I can't figure out what's going on. They play great in media player.

Is this a recent change, did they work well in the past?

Pull your battery while powered on, replace and reboot.

I've done a battery pull, I don't know what's going on. They worked great, I deleted all of them off at one point to replace them with the same ones just of a lot higher quality. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Are they ringtones in the Device Memory or Media Card. Are they under 512kb?

it's the sampling rate of the mp3 and the read speed of your card.

if you have a slow card and high sample rate mp3's, the BB is not able to read the song fast enough to play fully as a ringtone.

but if you simply play it in the media player, it will play fine since it's not readiing directly off the card... it caches it to local memory to improve performance.

get a faster Class 4 or Class 6 card and/or sample your music at no higher than 192kbps (may vary depending on the dynamics of the song chosen).

my solution is to create song snippets just for ringtone purposes, encoded at 128kbps max Variable Bit Rate, and have them saved on a 4gb SanDisk micro SDHC Class4 card.
