Plugged in and went to add docs to go as i left them out the other night/morning and its seems i unticked loads of other stuff also, dod certs, some MDS thing, MIME support?? Thats the worst of carrying out these things at about 2.30-3am!!! Have added all the missing bits now and deleted all service books and resent but still nothing
How do I do a full reinstall of same version OS?

fonedoc, try this, final step, in this order.
-Delete your BIS account on 02.
-Delete your Service Books on the BB.
-Pull the battery on the BB and reboot.
-Look at and confirm your service books are GONE.
-Re-add the BIS email account at your carrier site.
-Click to resend service books (they should anyway, but in case)
-Get the new Registration message on the BB.
You may need to pull the battery while powered on and reboot one final time for the NEW service books to install, maybe not.
Sometimes, sending new service books on top of bad or corrupted ones will not do anything. You may need to make sure all are clear for the new ones to push down and actually install to the BB.
good luck.

I'm completely puzzled. Do you use other email accounts apart from o2.ie?

Make sure the email service books [CICAL] and [CIMIME] are all deleted from your list.

Yes. CICAL and CMIME were still missing
Set up each of the 4 accounts again and each time, the service books arrived right away
Then went to HRT and registered to get the Blackberry registration message
Pulled battery one more time and restarted and still nothing!!!
OK. I have a theory! Maybe I am grasping at straws here, but it doesnt make any sense why it wont work for me
Have a look at this and see what you think of this problem

i have everything working (os, jivetalk, googlemaps, etc) i was watching some 2-4 min long videos on youtube and after the video is done playing my bb does a reset on its own (the red led indicator comes solid for about 3 seconds and the phone goes to the hourglass and restarts)
any reason why this happens? i have 20k mem when i check status and i don't seem to have a memory leak overnight as far as i can tell...

@JSanders
Do you think the above problem is related to my issue with the HTML emails? Its almost like the previous Blackberry was never removed from my account, although I know my current one is working

fonedoc, there could be some relation between the two issues. I am at a loss on this one, and the other. One thing I have learned is that if it doesn't work today, it might tomorrow. Give it a couple days and try it all again.

Thats what I said to myself yesterday and then started all over again today!
Ah well. I will keep looking and sort it sooner or later. By the way, how do I reinstall the same OS? I know I did it on my 8300 previously but cant remember how I carried it out? When its plugged in, it doesnt exactly tell you there is a new OS to install like when you are upgrading.
<EDIT>Its ok. I RTFM!!! </EDIT>

This OS version is FAR from stable. I don't even know why it was released. I get uncaught exceptions for using Blackberry messenger, which is crashing messenger and causing me to lose messages. I get uncaught exceptions using other portions of the OS also.

This is my first OS upgrade, everything seems ok except my BB Smart Alarms program now thinks I am an expired trial user and is asking me to buy a license key. Is there any way to fix this? My other paid apps are working fine. I followed the steps in the OP to a T. Thanks.

Hey JSanders,
Three questions:
1) Did you ever get YouTube working, and if so what did you do? I have the same issue, where I click "watch video" link and it switches over to the media player, but doesn't do anything. I checked all the boxes under "browser configuration" like you said and "internet browser" is selected.
2) After a few days, the mute button no longer puts the phone in standby mode. I have to do a battery pull, and then it works again for a few more days. Then it stops working again. Has anybody else had this problem and do you know what it could be?
3) When the BIS is updated in N. America on Friday, will we automatically get HTML email? I am on T-Mobile, which doesn't support the 8310, but I am running the 4.5 OS. DonBP posted on June 23rd in this thread that "RIM isn't upgrading the NA servers until June 27th and then it is up to the carriers here to release v4.5 and upgrade their own servers." Will T-Mobile have to upgrade their server, or will I be able to get HTML on Friday?
Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)
Newer OS versions fix the YouTube issue.
As for html it won't be until Sunday morning when it is activated. As far as anything on the carrier's end, I'm not sure.

So this is a known issue in the 4.5.37 OS? When you say newer OS versions fix this, are you referring to Beta versions? Is there an officially released newer version?
Also, have you heard about the mute/standby issue being a problem with this OS? I thought maybe it was a malfunction of the mute button, but it still mutes music/calls, etc.

There are no officially released newer versions. However, they are floating around and I heard that YouTube works now, as well as VoiceMail on TMobile, Voicenotes sent over BBMessenger, etc.
I've had no issues with the standby button on any of the beta OS's I've tried.

I'm curious if anybody else is having this problem after the OS update:
When I try to look up the current OS (under OPTIONS>ABOUT) by clicking or using the enter key nothing happens. No hourlgass, nothing.
Seems strange to me that that's possible.
Any ideas?

You removed Voice Activated Dialing. That screen disappears when you remove VAD. Use alt + rt shift + H or alt + e a c e

Upgrade ATT to 4.5 -
06-25-2008, 08:13 PM
Hi
Quick question for John C
Have read the entire thread 2x over - appreciate all of the excellent posts and advice. Have an AT&T 8310 running 4.2 and would like to upgrade to 4.5. Is AT&T planning on releasing an official 4.5 and if so, do you know when?
TIA

Yes and No.
Yes, they will be releasing.
No, I don't know when. It was supposed to be yesterday but that date has come and gone. No new word.

Thanks
One additional question - saw references to re-do enterprise activation - is there a way to upgrade and avoid having to re-do EA? Currently my 8310 is set to redirect wirelessly through my company's BES

If your Desktop Manager is installed for support for BES and your particular email client then yes.
Here's what I do:
I connect to my company's VPN as I would if I wanted to check my email with Outlook. Once connected I open Desktop Manager. It asks me for the email profile I want to use. I select my corporate profile. Once DM is running it will say "Connected" for connected to the BB and "online" for an online connection with the mail server. Once the BB is connected and online leave the BB for a few minutes. EA should start on it's own.
I actually don't connect to VPN and choose no profile when I first run the upgrade. Then after all is done and working good with my data restored then I close DM and connect to the VPN and then plug in my BB and open DM again and select my email profile. Then EA will start.
You can do the same thing if your PC is connected to the mail server via LAN, too.
In Desktop Manager there is an option to have it prompt you for the email profile. I have it prompt me so I can choose to connect to the email or not.

Thank you again. I am currently at work - does this mean I would choose your latter option - connect to DM (online / connected) and run the upgrade?

Yeah, if you're at work then it should connect to the email server automatically, provided DM is installed for BES use. If it was installed for BIS only then you won't get an EA.

Just plug the BB into your computer, run Desktop Manager/Application Loader and check the boxes for Docs To Go and hit finish/OK until the modules load to the device.
The applications will work after that.

Perfect. Jivetalk works perfectly. However I still get a prompt to visit bplay to register. If I already purchased the games do the email me the number or do I have to call them. It doesnt sound right that everytime I upgrade my phone software then I have to purchase those games again right?

You shouldn't have to purchase the game again but you may need to reenter your unlock code or registration code. Did you keep it?

Will ATT advise us if they upgrade. Will they include HTML?
I have been waiting to see if this weekend things change.

AT&T "might" send a notice of some sort, it would not be routine for them to do so. You will find out here first, likely.
"They" won't include HTML, that will come with RIM server upgrades, hopefully this weekend, as appears to be scheduled.
