Don't mean to repeat the post here, but haven't had any luck anywhere else:

I've installed 4.5, and a trial version of docs to go Premium edition. Since that time, I can't open attachments, or even open the menu in emails with attachments, that have been sent via BES. HOWEVER, the same email/attachment works normally if I forward it to my BB via my personal email. I've deleted BBeamer thinking this could be the problem. It's not. I removed docs to go premium, and the problem still exists. So I'm assuming it must be something with 4.5 and BES. Anyone?

I have 4.5 and am on BES, I can still open attachments (the old way not with DTG). I am using the Premium trial as well. Sounds like a conflict with some other software. I am assuming you have done a battery pull?

I loaded the os about 2 weeks ago and I have not had any problems except for my gmail app throwing exception errors.

I installed it on my att 8310 and it added the verizon curve look and features.

I now have video recording and the bes emails and browser looks like my co-workers verizon curve.

I do not have any complaints on this os.

I did ofcourse have to delete the vendor.xml to apply it.

THANKS. Your comment made me search deeper and I learned there is a conflict of some sort with Empower Mail veiwer. When I disable it, all is fine. When I reenable it, I can't view the attachment etc.... So I've emailed them and am waiting for a response.

thanks

Any word on on the BIS upgrades? How about AT&Ts OS release? I have Vista, and AT&T, and I'm a lil uneasy about upgrading my OS after reading some of the problems people have had...

UPDATE: I went ahead and did it...yes I'm stupid I know. Upgrade went well, phone works. However I don't have all the service books I'm supposed to have. I have not BB browser. I'm hoping that they'll come through soon, otherwise its either back to 4.2 or wait for AT&T to release their upgrade.

UPDATE 2: I got it! It just took a while, but I got it. I did send the service books however from the ATT BIS site.

Still no luck with getting my HTML email on O2 Ireland even though its working for others
Spent a lot of yesterday trying out stuff with O2 but still nothing
It seems it could be related to my other problem which I posted here about my 8300 PIN number still being active on my account although its lost. When they look in on their end it says my handset is NOT html compatible. Has been passed over to RIM at this stage so waiting for a resolution

In the meantime, while running this version, every call I answer, goes right to speaker / handsfree mode! I'm surprised I havent seen anybody else mention this here. Has anybody else come across it?

Oh! One other bug
When I use the camera, I have 2 strong black lines down each side of the screen
About 15% in on both sides
Anybody else? Or am i really unique? (unique is either yes or no. you cannot have gradations of uniqueness)

Did as you described. But when I connected my BB and opened DM, the system went through the sync process and I received no message to upgrade. I've done several actions:

1. removed the battery and reset BB
2. uninstalled/reinstalled 4.5
3. attempted to resync

Any other ideas? Appreciate the help.

Did that first thing after downloading the file. Located and removed the vendor.xml file. Should I give reboot to the PC?

Check again...I bet it's back. You need to remove it after installing both Desktop Manager AND the OS installer.

You don't want sync. You want to go to Application Loader

Went to Application Loader and no dice. Looked in both add/remove applications as well as Update Applications and does not prompt me to upgrade. Am I in the right place and procedure?

Go into Desktop Manager and click on Help >About. There should be a tab in there for device software. What is listed under that tab?

If you have an 8310 and the software was for the 8310 and you've installed as proven by what's listed in the device software tab under help >about, the only thing it can be is the vendor.xml file. Go check again and make sure it's gone.

yep. I have the Curve (8310). It's running 8300 software it says. But should that make a difference? The Vendor.xml file is gone. Thanks for your patience and responses.

You can't load 8300 software on an 8310. You MUST use 8310 software. Go download the OS in the link above for the 8310 and try it all again.

In Options >About on your BlackBerry does it say 8300 or 8310?

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8310 Curve)

Finally my saga ends. Woke up this morning and new service books had arrived. It appears that RIM sorted my problem of the old 8300 PIN tied to my account and as soon as they did, the new service books enabled the HTML settings, so I'm finally a happy camper ;)

First HTML email I received

I'm tryin to install the file that contains the OS to my desktop like I'm supposed to and I get the following error:

"The Wizard was interrupoted before Blackberry Device Software verson 4.5.0 could be completely installed"

I'm completely stumped. I've got the latest Desktop Manger(v4.5), and I can't get anywhere with this. I wanted to get this done tonight, but it don't look like it'll happen.

Do you have antivirus or a firewall that might be preventing the installation from completing? This sounds like a Windows/PC problem.

My anti-virus is through Avast and I've never had this kind of problem before.

The firewall is through Windows itself.

I could be wrong but I think we might see a lot of official releases of 4.5 now that BIZ 2.5 has been deployed in NA. It would only make sense.

Gizmoto and The Boy Genius Report are all reporting that the official release of 4.5 won't be until September... but I do think that the carriers' official releases will start to trickle in between now and then.

This AM in Jacksonville, Fl I resent my service books to my 4.5 OS Curve and the BIS 2.5 update went thru last night. I went to toggle the HTML email and it was already on!

I can now send Blackberry videos to another Blackberry and it worked perfectly! HTML email really formats very well and is going to be a real pleasure to see!

Looks like RIM did their homework and it worked!

While I ALWAYS thought that RIM and the carriers would not release the 4.5 OS untill AFTER the Bold release, I would treat anything that BG says as rumor. Believe it if you wish but after the last few days, I will tend to wait on OFFICIAL news and not what comes from BG.

I would recommend using DM 4.2.2 SP2, or 4.3.
