Thanks. The first message said to use the "latest" DM and I see a version 4.5 there. That's what threw me.

I would recommend using DM 4.2.2 SP2, or 4.3.

I have ATT 8310 and I am trying to go to the .37 from vodophone. It has been stuck for like 15 minutes where the DM says "retrieving module "dataVault.cod" and appears to be locked up. I even hit cancel and nothing happened. What should I do?

I've gone through hell to get this update installed. Finally got it working.

So what's the big deal? Other then the Video Camera function I don't see anythng new and exciting. I do notice the device isn't as "snappy" as it was under ealier 4.3 (or whatever) version.

I ended up hitting end task on DM to stop it. Started DM again, unchecked datavault and it seems to be working now and in process. I hope I can install the datavault after the fact....

It sounds like its stuck on a 3rd party backup. I've had this happen. If it appears to be locked on that step its safe to unplug and start the process again.

Uh oh. Time to break out JL_Cmder in my sig. Use that to wipe the device and load the OS again. There is a FAQ at www.blackberryfaq.com on how to use it and how to reload the OS.

emphasis on the phrase "officially released"? If there's a higher beta version, is there any advantages to it over the "official" one?

By the way, I don't have a "zoom" option in the browser menu. I thought there was supposed to be one.

There is no zoom in the browser options.

Most higher versions include bug fixes for older versions. That's just how the OS's work. Beta/unreleased OS's can't be found here.

Thanks John, with your advise I eventually was able to get it back to 4.2. Lost most of my games and such too. Good thing is I am relieved I didn't brick my phone permanently.
Question is, why didn't my upgrade to 4.5 work?

1. Odd, have you tried to sync your address book manually vis desktop manger as wrll as via your BES?
2.You need to upgrade to the latest version of DTG, to get SheetToGo.

Should I delete the old DM 4.3 prior to the 4.5 install. Or should I let it run over the 4.3. I think I deleted the previous one before I put in the 4.3 on my last upgrade. Including going into Regedit and removing the RIM folder and also the RIM in Programs on my C drive.
Should I do that again for this OS system?

What DM are you going to have loaded for your OS 4.5 install, if you delete DM 4.3?

I would install over the top of prevous installations. That seems to work best. Otherwise you have to reinstall your OS, too.

If you run Vista be careful. I loaded DM 4.5 on my Vista computer and it caused a Windows fatal error blue screen reboot every time I did a backup. It's the only time in 1+ years of using Vista that I have had any system error or crash. I then uninstalled it reinstalled 4.3 and still had the same crash problem. I eventually had to use SYSTEM RESTORE to go back to the previous day to stop the blue screen so 4.5 DM left something there that Vista wasn't happy with. Everything has been good since restoring to the day before I installed DM 4.5.

That's what I am doing going to the 4.5.0.52/4.5.0.37 OS system Also.

SO it says install the latest DM prior to installing the 4.5 OS system...The reason I ask is I have read that some people are having conflicts or something if they do not do a clean install.

OK looks like everything is working but the track ball is a little slow. I still have to optimize for some reason the ATT theme is back. I also downloaded the Documents to go. I now have the video camera, card media search and a voice note recorder.
I still need to put my media card back in and reformat for the 4.5....I know it was only T-mobile frying the card but I didn't want to take a chance. Also when I did the applications I saw MIMME application. I put that in since I figure you need it for HTML?
Address book looks different and e-mails look different also. Have not checked to see if Yahoo Messenger or BB maps work yet.

EDITED
The application is BB attachment Service
BB S/MIME Support.. I guess that is for protected messages?
Documents to go
Also a E-mail Setup application which I do not think I had before.

I guess the Document to go eats up lots of space. I am back to 24340464 bytes, I had after Optimization with OS 4.2 almost 38xxxxxx bytes. Will have to look at code and see what could be removed.

Sorry for all the messages.
I put the card back in and everything is there...DO I have to reformat to use with 4.5. I also have the preloaded pictures back on the device. I guess that's where the memory went.

Some users have needed to reformat the Media Card to use with 4.5, especially if you had a larger card than was allowed on a lower OS version. For instance, if you had a 8gb card on 4.2 where only 4gb was possible, you would need to reformat it now on 4.5.

Thanks I formatted since I tried to make a video..I still get An error occurred attempting to play media.

Also I still can't read HTML e-mails. Is it because RIM has not upgraded in North America. I thought Sunday was the day they were doing it?

Also I thought I had BB maps. It showed in Applications but I can not find the icon any place...I looked in hidden files...Need to do a search and see if I need to reload something I guess.

Edited Here is my LBS file..Looks nothing like the old ones where you find BB maps to remove Vendor

Overall I like 4.5, but it's been really unstable. I've had great reception, but it sounds like crap, and the device has rebooted a few times. It's also not too responsive.

Looking forward to the official AT&T release.

Well I am getting HTML e-mails.

My problems is I have no sounds, blinking lights or vibrating.

It shows all the pre loaded ring-tones are there and I have my settings set right.

I also get an error occurred attempting to play media. That is on sound or video.

Camera works fine and I am able to view pictures.

Also voice note recorder says.
it has been disabled by your system administrator

HELP

edit
NEVER MIND..figured out what I did..I took the medi.cod when I removed the pre installed pictures and sample video....Some of the names have changed on the code.

Still looking for how to get BB maps Icon back and maps to work

installed without a problem in about 20 mins.

the only problems i noticed with the new OS is that my Alt + Enter does not work to lock it. I tried to check the option in the language settings but it's not there either. Is there another way to lock the phone manually?

Also, when viewing youtube videos, it will reboot itself if i try anything besides play the video and go back.

With 4.5 the previous fix for getting Blackberry Maps on ATT does not work. Did I miss another workaround

Even though I like HTML e-mail there are to many thing starting to screw up on this OS system...If I cant figure it out back down to the previous one

If anyone has same problem. I installed 4.5.0.46 instead.
Everything seems to work and is more stable. I am watching to see about battery drain and still need to load BB maps.
Found a work around for it. Will let you know if it works

Welcome to the Forums.

Before you activate your ATT NAV, go to Options > Advanced > GPS > Menu > Refresh GPS.

Be outside, in an open area and give it about 10 minutes to refresh. Then go back to your ATT NAV and proceed.

This OS will load on any carrier's 8310 model as long the user follows the instructions below exactly as written.

Filename: 8310M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37

Package Version: 4.5.0.52
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.37
Software Platform: 2.7.0.55
File name: 8310M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37
File size:80 MB

Hilfe & Support / BlackBerry / BlackBerry-Handhelds / BlackBerry Curve 8310 vodafone.de

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click
HERE

*Note: During Beta testing of this OS on TMobile devices many sim cards were "fried" and had to be replaced and UMA didn't work. Load on TMo devices at your own risk.

Also, on all devices it's a good idea to make a backup of your media card before loading OS 4.5. Constant reboots can occur when using media cards formatted in OS 4.2 or 4.3 in OS 4.5. Then reformat the media card in OS 4.5 and restore your data.

*Note: While in Application Loader be sure and check the boxes to add Documents To Go to your device. Failure to install Documents To Go will cause java errors in some 3rd party apps.
Ok so I downloaded the file but when I went too:
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
There was no vendor.xml vile
there was one that said Vendor but it said it was a Saffari file and I'm on a PC
What do I do?

That's just a file association. I've seen that before. Just delete the vendor file.
