Default Curve tones are too loud - 06-13-2008, 01:09 AM

I had a 8830 and upgraded to a curve today
Its on a bes so all of my settings transfered over
My ring tones are on my memory card so everything transfered over.
On the 8830 my volume tones were set to medium which was just fine.
On the curve I have had to set everything to low and its still to loud.
I don't want to edit every single ring tone and beep tone that I have.
Stock OTB and my custom ring tones are all too loud
How do I fix this?

Setting the profile volume to low is the way to do it, it sounds like you have done that.

8830 users had an issue with the tones being too low, there are hundreds of posts here on that issue. I guess they fixed it.

I'm tired of searching
Ive read and read and I still do not see a solution other then downloading all new ring tones or editing all of my existing ring tones
I have no idea how to edit the stock ring tones already on the phone

Getting lower volume tones and/or editing and replacing them is the only way, other than setting the volume to low, which you have done.

Good luck.

I have the same problem with my tones being ridiculously loud even at the low setting. In another post it says you can use the media manager to lower the volume but I was too lazy to do that. Some of the tones are actually a normal volume. You just have to search them out.

I have the same issue with some of the tones being too loud, even when they're set to low. I used to have the pearl and had the exact opposite problem where the tones were way too low! I'm going to try and find that post about editing them via media manager and give that a whirl...

Don't know offhand however I think there are prior threads that discuss this exact topic and suggest some apps. I use Sound Forge for editing audio files but it's far from being free.

I don't see #2 when I right click an audio file. I'm trying to make ringtone.

Creating ringtones
You can create ringtones from existing audio clips—such as your favorite song—with the Quick Sound Editor.

To create a ringtone:
In Media Manager, browse to the audio file from which you want to create a ring tone.
Right-click the audio file and choose Edit with Quick Sound Editor.
If necessary, display the Trim & Fade view by clicking Trim Fade.
Move the play head to the beginning of the section you want to use as your ringtone, either by clicking Preview or by clicking the waveform.
Click Set Start.
Move the play head to the end of the section you want to use as your ringtone.
Click Set End.
Click Create Ringtone.
Specify a file name and location for the new file, and click Save.
To exit from Quick Sound Editor, click Close.
