I looked around and I could not find an answer to my question. I have a bb curve in Canada with Bell as the service provider and my brother has a bb also but he lives in the states. My questions are?

- Can I add him in my bb messenger list?
- does it matter that he lives in the states and I'm in Canada? and,
- Do we have to have a data plan in order for the blackberry messenger to work? (I have a data plan but my brother doesn't).

1) yes; you can add anyone with a BlackBerry
2) You will say "eh" and lot more; that's the only difference (heh heh heh)
3) YES - BB Messenger will only work with a BlackBerry Data Plan

Thanks for the reply. So I guess by the answers I can just only add him on my list of bb messenger contacts but I will not be able to send messages via bb messenger? right? I would have to use my text messages to do that.

You can't even add him as a contact. It will just show as pending, forever.

Well, technically BB messenger uses data, but the exact definition of "data plan" depends on the provider.

For example, the Rogers personal unlimited email plan includes no "data", as in no internet, but unlimited BIS and BB messenger.

So yes, we all know that really is data, but depending on the actual plan your brother has, it might actually include messenger. Especially if it includes email.

I have the $15 unlimited e-mail/bbm plan but last night, icons for Google Talk and MSN Messenger appeared. I was able to install and use MSN but I'm not sure if I'm actually being charged extra to use it or if it's included?

Thing is, the e-mail plan doesn't allow you to go on the internet. I can't access my WAP browser. So...why would MSN work? I called them and no one really had a solid answer for me...soo anyone out there have an idea?
