Default Bluetooth file transfer?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop, and I have been able to pair the BB with the PC.

What I want to accomplish is to do file transfers from the media card, but I can only seem to get audio and hands free services.

Of course I can just hook it up via USB, but hey, this is the year 2008!

I suspect that the BT implementation on the BB's does not support this. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,
R

BT data transfers are supported through Blackberry Desktop Manager.

I feel BB do not support BT files transfer well, I mean, not convenience as it should be.

bluetooth data rates are very slow compared to USB 2.0 and is on par with USB 1.1 data rates.

as for my avatar, no. a friend of mine created it long ago, and this is the only forum i've ever registered on that allows such large file sizes so i'm able to use it.

there are 2 ways to use BT data transfer... either ad hoc between two blackberrys, or thru the desktop manager.

both are a huge improvement over IR, and ad hoc connections are especially useful when you need to xfer files between berries. but as for using it at home to connect with desktop manager, it's simpler and faster (IMO) to just plug it in.
