Could someone please provide me a tutorial for setting an MP3 i have on my sd card to a ringtone?

I know this is the noobest question ever but I can't find the answer for the life of me!

I just got my first blackberry today 8330 Curve Verizon

So to make a single mp3 ringtone my ringtone for all phone calls, I simply load it onto my sd card, find it in the media player under music and set it as a ring tone?

or go into options > profiles > advanced > current profile

from there you can set all of your ringtones, alerts, and message tones for all of your call profiles.

Strange, I don't have a profiles selection under Options

try "sound" or "audio profiles" or "audio"... the default icon should look like a speaker, unless verizon felt the need to lock THAT down too and charge you for the right to customize ringtone profiles. har har.

Because it's not under options. It will be on your application icon list. Look for the one that says "Profiles" and click it. Then scroll down to the bottom and click 'Advanced'. Then you can set a tone for the different categories from there.

On the 8830 I simply highlight the song and set as phone tune. All of my music is stored on my memory card.

There are at least two ways to do this -- both outlined above. Davidlleroy's method only works for the active profile though. If you want to assign a specific ringtone to a contact you'll need to go through Profiles or the Address Book.
