Default Outlook Push

Please Login to Remove!

It sometimes takes 15 minutes for my Verizon Curve to get an email after it hits my Outlook account on my desktop. I've only had the phone for a few days, I'm sure I've got something set wrong. Other people's BBs that I've seen get them almost simultaneously on their desktop & BB. What have I got set wrong?

Love this phone, hotmail seems to be pushing just fine (although still a bit of a lag sometimes... it's not consistent, sometimes the hotmail hits my phone instantly after I see the little window on my desktop -- sometimes 15 minutes, but I can live with this coming from the Q..... I had to do a manual send/receive 2 or 3 times to get my hotmail messages to the phone, BOO!!)

Anyway -- is there a setting I don't have right, that makes the push vs. lag inconcistent on both homail and Outlook?

Thanks all!!!!

Outlook doesn't push the mail, RIM does, from your email server. But on a POP3 account, on BIS, that is the cycle--15 minutes.

How does BIS Poll for Email

BIS mail will take up to 15 minutes to deliver to the handheld. If you want instant, use GMail, Yahoo or your BB only account that you can setup on the device.

Other people here at work get their work/Outlook emails almost simultaneously on their BBs. I can ask them how..... just didn't want to seem like the village idiot. Do you know of a way to configure so that it's instant? I ditched the Q for the Curve solely for the instant work email while I'm at lunch or home or driving. My Q was usually around 5 minutes -- am I right now discovering I upgraded to something slower?!

Thank you, kind gent

Either they're on a BES server, or they have GMail, Yahoo! or have mail forwarded to their dedicated BB address.

They are likely on a BES server then, or getting Gmail or Yahoo mail.

Are all of you on the same email server, for the work emails?

If you have Earthlink as your personal email account, for example, you can (through the WebMail client) set up your mail to be forwarded to your blackberry's email address. That happens almost instantaneously...certainly much faster than the 15-minute polling you're getting now.

Yes, all on the same server. We don't have an Enterprise server, if that's what BES is.

The caveat is that the current version of BIS doesn't appear to allow you to modify the email address that mail comes from when you send/reply via your *.blackberry.net address. You can set the reply-to but that's not the same.

When your email account is actually integrated with BIS, your replies and composed email will appear to come from the integrated email account.

You're certain that they're receiving all of their work email instantaneously? I mean, you've sat at their desks and compared email delivery on the PC versus their BB? How often is Outlook configured to poll the mail server?

I suspect that this is really just a matter of perception but I'm just guessing here.
