Default Backup/Retore Failed

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just upgraded to the latest VZW OS for the Curve 8330. It didn't go too well. It took two battery pulls to get it to work correctly. Once I did that, it barfed on a certificate error for Google Apps Mail app. I managed to fix that easily.

But none of my mails were restored. All of the SMS, Phone Log, address, calendar.. etc, etc, made it. But not my messages. So I dug into the ipd file using Desktop Manager and sure enough, no entries at all for messages. I don't have another backup.

My thinking is my only other option is to download all my gmail to outlook then sync that.. Can anyone think of anything else ?

Justin, did you do a complete back up before upgrading (I know the upgrade will do so, ONLY as long as you have that option checked, you must not have).

I can't think of another way other than as you described...

I had it checked and it backed up everything BUT my messages. Very bizarre. No errors that I could see.

I guess in the future I'll have to verify that everything was in fact backed up before moving forward with an upgrade..

Ok, so I will download all my mail to Outlook then sync. That should get me all my mail back.

Thanks

uh, no, on BIS, syncing with Outlook won't get any messages on your BB.

I didn't mean that syncing with Outlook would get your messages back, I meant I didn't know of another way to restore your messages other than from the backup...

Sorry. You may be without.

I'm a Linux user and only use Desktop Manager for upgrades.. Do you mean that Desktop Manager doesn't sync Mail ?

Never has.

Actually, on a BES system, you can reconcile mail... not sync.

On a personal BIS, there is no mail reconcile. Only for Calendar, Address Book, Tasks and Messages.

Ah ha.. Well thanks for that. I appreciate it.

I guess that puts a big + in the "get BES hosting" column eh ?
