Another UMA Question Hi! I just want someone to verify for me that if I have the unlimited email data plan from T-Mobile for my Blackberry Curve 8320, and I am browsing the internet on my Curve, my minutes are being used? I want to just use the wi-fi I have at home to cruise the net on the Curve without being charged. Thanks! |
it's free as long as the wifi access point is free. |
So far I got charged with 15 minutes already on the weekend. I never placed a call under UMA. I went on Craigslist, Myspace, and Yahoo. Could it be possible that pressing #646# under UMA be it? |
You are never charged "minutes" for data usage. If you are dialing something then, yes, that could be it. |
So when I'm under UMA and cruising on Myspace or Yahoo, I am using data and should not be charged? |
That's correct. You can NOT be charged for minutes when just using data. If you dial something on the phone, you will be charged for minutes. |
Thanks John! |
Do not confuse minutes with data. Minutes are for voice only. UMA is for voice only. When you browse over Wifi you are using data, not minutes. You don't need UMA to use data. UMA is voice over WiFi. Remember that AT&T does not support UMA, but does support data over Wifi (on the 8820 for example). Minutes are for voice only. |
