You need an OS for the 8330 with a filename of "8330CJK..." Look at the various CDMA vendors and see of they have it, I have not seen it, but I might be wrong.

i looked, unless I am missing one, I don't see it. The 8330 si still fairly new, it could take a bit longer for it to come out,.

You are also going to need the Chinese language input and support files from the OS installation Java directory.

There are too many for me to realisticly list. However, if you have two versions of an OS - one with Chinese and one without, and view the Java directories side by side, I think you will quickly see which files they are. There will be "blocks" of cod files that you will need. For example, for RIM's platform resource, below are the Chinese language support files:

net_rim_platform_resource__zh.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN_CangJei.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_CN_WuBiHua.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK_CangJei.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_HK_Jyutping.cod
net_rim_platform_resource__zh_TW_CangJei.cod

For other OS resources, there will be other cod files for Chinese language support which you will need. Just look for anything with the letters "zh." "Zh" stands for "zhongwen," which if you are looking for Chinese language, I assume you know what it means. CN = China. HK = Honk Kong. TW = Taiwan. Also, for the above, you can see some of the Chinese input systems offered for China, Hon Kong and Taiwan. There is also a pin yin input system for simplified Chinese characters. New in OS 4.5 is Taiwan's BoPoMoFo input system.

Also, from the main directory of the OS, you will need to copy the file CJK.alx to the main directory of the newer OS you are trying to load.

I have used this method successfully for many versions of OS 4.2 and now OS 4.5 when Chinese language support was not included in a newer OS.

Hope this helps.

hi Ramsy, actually I tried to copy all ZH related .cod files to 8330 ROM, and including CJK.alx The problem is that it's not shown the Chinese language options. I used to try that method in 8300 when it's just release to market. I use the 8700 zh related .cod files to replace. it worked in GSM phone at that time. Now i installed the chinese font .cod files to 8330, but it works in brower only, when i received an email in Chinese, it's shown unknown characters.

do you have any ideas on CDMA curve? Thanks a lot.

My guess is that there is too many differences between the 8700 OS and the 8330 OS to the Chinese language cod files from the 8700 for the 8300.

I would suggest downloading a copy of the OS for an 8300, 8310 or 8320 that is of the same level OS you have for your 8330 (i.e. 4.2 or 4.5) and that has the language Chinese files and try copying those files to your 8330 OS installation directory to see if that works better.

hi ramsy, i do install 8310 CJK rom to my new 8330. it cant show Chinese language option. I copied CJK.alx and the zh .cod files in Java folder to 8330 ROM. Is there any other files I missed to copy? Thx.

btw. i have two curve, one is cdma 8330, the other is GsM 8300. so i tried 8700 cjk rom to 8300 early last year when curve just launched. that worked. but this time i tried 8310 cjk rom to 8330 , it didn't work.

any ideas? thanks a lot.
