Got everything working just fine.... syncing with home (cable) and work (also cable) was a dream. No problems (after fiddling with things for a few days...)

Then.... IT called to set me up on the BES here at the University. New problems now.... how do you spell "nightmare"? Okay maybe that's a bit melodramatic.

Duplicate calendar entries (1400 now become 2800 entries), and I'm told that I won't be able to sync with my home computer now (cable) since activating my device on the BES. Arrghhh...... lol

Tasks and Memo pad won't sync now either, don't know why.

Looking at my "calendars" in the device I see I now have three! One with no entries and two with 1400 each.

Can I not just delete two of them, (leave the BES calendar on the device) and delete all entries in my home desktop...then sync with home again and repopulate the calendar; which should leave just one calendar on the device?

And if that's the solution, which "books" do I delete?

Sorry for the issue "dump". I'm frustrated in that I had everything working just fine until BES. A tech also told me the BES takes over my device and I may have to do a hard reset to get rid of all the changes it makes; further that those changes may interfere with other operations on the device. Bummer.

Wipe the device and start all over. Set up BES first.

Whether or not BES is set up first or last, with BES activated for work, will I still be able to sync with my calendar at home via cable too?

This is important to me. If wireless sync at work means I can't sync with my home PC I don't want to be on the BES.

It depends on the IT Policies that your company puts on the device. Many will lock it down for security reasons. Just remember that there is no private or personal data on a BB attached to BES. I never recommend putting a personal device on BES for that reason. If the company wants you on,they should supply the device and pay the bill.

That's a good point and a realization that was just starting to gel for me.

I thought I could get my email and calendar pushed out to my device without all these strings. I've been fooling around here at home to see if I can sync with the cable and though I haven't tried it yet I don't think it's going to work. DTMgr is already telling me I am connected wirelessly. I suspect the BES overrides any attempt to sync with another computer via cable.

It looks like you were on the right train of thought in your OP. See if you can disable wireless sync in your calendar options (and any other category you may choose). You should then be able to sync to your home PC. The security on the BES I use allows it, but if yours doesn't, then you may be SOL.

I am wirelessly sync-ing address book, calendar, tasks, and notes with a BES, but once a week, I disable wireless sync for all and do a one-way dump to my home PC for backup.

Talked to IT this morning. I will not be able to sync with two PCs while connected to the BES, (or so he confirmed).

He is deleting my account and I'll go back to syncing via cable. We don't have POP access so I can't get my work email via that route, leaving me with only two options for work email; my PC at work and my PC at home via web access. I already tried accessing email via the browser on the BB but it's far too clunky to use.

Last question (if I'm lucky).

Would I be better off wiping the device and then doing a restore from a backup I did just before connecting to the BES or will a restore remove everything added by the BES?

See if you can integrate your work account with BIS via OWA. Omit the password when setting it up and tell it that you will specify your settings.

There's no universal rule here. It depends on what restrictions the BES admin has put into place. As you can, people do sync at home via USB while on BES. YMMV.

Actually, you are in a way. Even us vets don't have much experience with the multiple calendars, etc enabled in 4.3+.

I've tried to figure this out but can not. How would I go about setting up an account with BIS. By the way when I reinstalled DTMgr I chose the second option for email and as a result, I have no "Email setting" choice on my menu in DTMgr.

Make sure your BES Admin sends you a blank IT Policy.

Figured out the BIS through OWA. Haven't got it working yet have not given up.
