Default Internet and Messenger

I'm a new blackberry(8300) user and have a couple questions:

1. I'm in Canada with Rogers and was wondering how the internet access works if I want to just use it for regular browsing (no downloading) and possibly msn messenger.

Am I charged a flat rate and/or how does the data plan work regarding mb usage???

2. how does the BB Messenger work, is that just another type of msn messenger or does it work like text messaging where you are charged per text?

#1 What do I need a Data Plan for? - BlackBerryFAQ

#2 BBM is an I.M. Program for BB's and only BB's. It uses data.

Hello & welcome to BBF.

If you have the Rogers new 300mb package then all your data use is covered up to this limit. Go over this & you will most likely be charged per mb or kb. 300mb should be plenty though.

BB messenger uses data from your 300 mb allowance so no extra charges will be incurred.

BB messenger is only for blackberry to blackberry Messaging though.

ok so reviewing that topic:

1. How do I know what kind of data plan to get, regarding the amount of usage?

2. does pin to pin messaging work like a telus to telus plan where you dont pay per message?

BBM and PIN are kinda the same the PIN Mes. is like an email. They both use data and you don't pay per message and can send them to any BB, it does not matter what carrier...

As a rough guide I am on an 200mb excessive use plan and have never used 200mb... Yet

Everyones usage is different depending on what they use their BB for.
