I have the OS installed right now on my BB 8320 TMOb version. Works but get allot of Class java.lang.nullpointerexception, null errors in my screen. So I'm going to downgrade right know.

Note to T Mobile 8320 users- this is the exact same OS that killed two of my SIM cards.

It was definitely one of the worst.

What do you guys mean by "fried" SIM cards?
I just don't see how a SIM can be damaged, the circuitry on the phone is limited on how much current it can send to the SIM (6-50mA). The memory on the SIM is both volatile and non-volatile with a main IC but I just don't see how a piece of software can cause this?

There were MANY reports of damaged sim cards that had to be replaced after loading this particular OS to the 8320. There were way too many for it to be a coincidence.

IMO we should conduct a fact finding mission here, 1st how many tmo users loaded this OS and second how many got there sims fried. I would bet the percentage of fried sims is very low compared to the total number of people who loaded this OS. I loaded it w/o any issues.

I am sorry. My profile is not up to date, I lurk mostly ... my bad.
I am using T-Mo 8320 and installed the 4.5 last night. Took 3 tries to get it up and running.
Will leave it on till my card fries out I guess.

no Documents To Go? -

Documents To Go did not load for me on this install. . .Does anyone else have it?
Is there a way to reinstall the same OS to see if it loads then?

I loaded the os with succes and my sim if fine.
But I use Telfort a dutch sim and I have the Tmo blackberry curve 8320.
So far everything looks good but allot of programs like google don't work anymore and Jivetalk also doesnt work anymore. I get allot Null errors all the time I try to do something.
But have to say the os looks nice a bit slow but ok.

If you read the first post of this thread you'll see a note about installing Documents To Go to prevent java app erros on 3rd party apps. Install Docs to Go and I'm sure your errors will go away.

Wow this is so technical! lol
Will this work for an 8310 on Rogers?
My v4.2.2 is all of a sudden just deciding to pretty much bail on me. Now it crashes, music playback stops, my camera won't zoom in! I don't know what's going on !?

Just pull the battery on your device and most of those problems will go away.
Edit: I see you have an 8310. This OS is for the 8320. There is another sticky that contains the 4.5 OS for the 8310.

Maybe the US companies are more heavily regulated?

Uma -
07-03-2008, 12:39 PM
Long time lurker, first time poster..
So I appreciate everyone's comments in advance.
I installed this for my T-Mobile 8320, and it's been working great... EXCEPT UMA. It connects to my router no problem, but it won't connect further saying, "TMobile Network Error" - Error code W006.8
It's driving me insane.. Is this the same errors that others are getting on their curves? 3 of us upgraded our firmware.. only MY uma doesn't work (of course)...
Thanks!

I just installed this last night. I tested just about everything. Everything is functional except for UMA. I get the same error as tim3. I've tried on several Wifi networks. I haven't tried it yet at a Hotspot location though.
As for frying SIM cards and such: I used Desktop Manager 4.5 to load this OS. I had no type of errors. Load time took about 45 mins with out a backup and restore of data. Are you folks doing a restore of your previous data? Maybe its causing problems. I also have a fairly new SIM card. I had to change my SIM card when I first got my Curve because UMA was not stable with my 3 year old SIM.
The OS looks solid and stable. Its not as quite zippy as expected. However, as long as its not crashing like a WinMo phone then that's fine.
Other noteable things:
*It now supports HTML email on BIS. Well kind of. The HTML text rendering is good but when the email has any images/graphics then they do not load. Just image placeholders are present. You can toggle HTML viewing on/off from the Blackberry device.
*Video camera is also in there. It no longer crashes the Blackberry like it used to do on previous betas.

Still running 4.5 on my Tmo device. but my bb is unlocked and I use a Telfort card. No fries are backed so the sim is still cool. How do I downgrade to 4.2 again.
I deleted 4.5 from add/remove and installed 4.2 deleted vendor... and I have 4.3 desktop installed but when I load DM it does nothing.
Anybody can tell me what I did wrong.

Darn. I was all excited about this! Oh well.
I think I'll wait for a T-Mo friendly version. When JC, JS and other fellow T-Mobilers are happy with one, that's the one I'll try!!

I've been using the .44 build with no big problems. I used Desktop Manager 4.3 to load this OS. I had no errors. Load time took about 35 minutes. UMA is fine and no memory leaks. However, the battery lasts less and I lost the icon for when there is a new message in my voicemail. I am content with this build seems stable although definitely not optimal. Video Camera works well, I like the new calendar and mail, however, still favor BBsmart as my e-mail reader. Oh, forgot to say I am a T-mobile customer.

Better remove this verison before it NUKES your sim card.... This release is very bad for TMO users... I urge all TMO users to NOT DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THIS VERISION........This is the only build that kills our sim cards...All other builds are a-ok

UMA has been functional on all versions after .37. .37 was the only version that it didn't work on.
