Yes but after it installs you have to go through a wizard that says language and stuff. Then delete vendor.xml then open up DM and you should be prompted. Goodluck

great, thank you soo much, your really making this process much more comfortable.

it automatically backed up my files anyways, so that was sorta an unnecessary step...

I prolly shouldnt be d/l'ing and installing Orb and using itunes and youtube and bitcomet, but w/e my new laptop is a beast with 3gb ram and core 2 duo. oh man i hope i dont explode my beautiful curve and fry my SIM card. of course, I will follow up with reviews and pro cons of the OS upgrade.

hows the sound quality of the youtube stream? these earbuds they provide us with are actually decent quality, nothing amazing. But I'd say comparable to the ones that come with the ipod.

Sounds fine, just like watching a video on your device, or like your listening to music. Well I wouldn't know I use my big headphones because it has a 3.5mm headset jack so you can use any headphones.

ok its definitely speeding up and slowing down a little bit on youtube. no too much, but definitley noticeable to me, I'm and audio engineering major so maybe im just too picky.

But its bearable, and doesnt matter for non-music videos.

loads wicked fast, good picture. definitley better than blueapple

also the menu is slightly slower right now. but again worth it

You can find your PIN in Options >Status.

Funny, your profile says you have an 8330 and your carrier is TMobile. I'm assuming you have the 8320?

Did you read the notes above where many TMobile 8320 users had sim cards damaged (to the point of needing a new sim) from this OS? Also, UMA does not work for most TMobile users.

No. As the first post states, it will work on any 8320. OS can't be mixed and matched.

Yea I actually have an 8320 I just don't know how to change my profile. This new os has been amazing so far. No problems found yet. The browser is 100x better, no sim card damage. This is great!

Great to hear, but mine is acting a little funny.

When in the browser and I need to type something (say a search for youtube videos) it sometimes doesn't type. Like it just does a bunch of shortcuts.

It has reset itself about 4 times since I upgrade. In my book, thats far too many.

UMA also does not work.

I think Im going to downgrade. IMHO, 4.2 is more stable.

Default Installing to my blackberry - 07-15-2008, 03:14 PM

I have downloaded 4.5.0.37 to my pc how do i get my blackberry upgraded?

I brought my blackberry from the US and it was an AT&T running 4.2 .I am in Israel now and they run 4.5 .I am having problems with some apps.I also dont have the right Nav software for the GPS and am wondering where I can get the Navigator software used by Cellcom in Israel (Cellcom Navigator).

If someone can tell me how to instal the new OS to my blackberry I would appreciate it.If anyone know of Cellcom Navigator I would also greatly appreciate it.

my 4.5 progress report.

I have a tmobile 8320, and I tried installing the OS from the first post and it was buggy but working. Three days later, it fried my sim card.

I just installed the version from nj4x4fever's post, and it sees to be less buggy. I'll post again if my sim card dies.

In Both versions, I noticed that google maps doesn't work at all. it seems to start to load the app, then when it asks for cell locations, it hangs and i have to pop the battery. Does anyone else have this issue?

You can get that mouse cursor using 4.2 as well. Just go into the Browser options, click on General Properties, and change the Default View to Desktop.

Default HElp installing the 4.5 to my device - 07-16-2008, 01:05 AM

I followed all the directions below but was never prompted to upgrade.What did Ido wrong?I actually need 4.5 because 4.2 is problamatic where I am now.

Software Download for Dialog Sri Lanka
To view software for a BlackBerry product, please select a product from the drop down menu and click Select :

Software For BlackBerry 8320 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.52 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.52
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.37
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.55
* File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37_V odafone_Dialog_(Sri_Lanka).exe
* File size: 77.69MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

To install this software on any 8320:

1. Download and install the latest Desktop Manager.
2. Download and install the OS packaged linked above.
3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB, open Desktop Manager and you should be prompted to upgrade.

(
This particular version was known to damage sim cards on the TMobile 8320 requiring the sim to be replaced during beta testing. Also, this version was known to not support UMA on many TMobile 8320's. TMobile users load at your own risk.

*Note: Also, on all devices it's a good idea to make a backup of your media card before loading OS 4.5. Constant reboots can occur when using media cards formatted in OS 4.2 or 4.3 in OS 4.5. Then reformat the media card in OS 4.5 and restore your data.

*Note: While in Application Loader be sure and check to boxes to add Documents To Go to your device. Failure to install Documents To Go will cause java errors in some 3rd party apps.

Did you delete the vendor.xml file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader?

This version is for the 8320 while your profile says you have an 8310.

hmmm well im not glad to hear that your sim card fried grinella, i hope the same doesnt happen to me!

agtcasey, thanks i didnt know you could use the mouse in 4.2, i should have searched the options a little more i guess, the new browser is great and works on many sites that didnt work before. moodio finally works for me, although it occasionally stops working. I love the new messaging/email interface, its much bigger and easier to see. the maps application works fine so far. i hadnt used google maps before, but the website appears to be working for me.

I have restarted once. havent pulled the battery. it has been a little bit funky a few times, but no more problems than before... thanks for updates everyone, I'll post more as a go as well.

i dont think you can use this upgrade on a 8310 capsrule, although im not sure.

Is there any inside information when the next build/repackage will be available or when this might become an official release?

I finally decided to check out the youtube player on 4.5 I went to m.youtube.com and loaded up a video. The Media player pops up and tries to load a video. a few seconds later, "An error has occured attempting to play media" pops up.

Any remedy to this problem?

*edit* nevermind, I upped the General Memory Limit from 5mb to 12mb and it worked.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

I've seen that message. Usually if I go back and try again it works. It seems to happen when my signal isn't that great. Not sure exactly what causes it.

How did you do that? I was trying to dl some file and it wouldn't let me due to this memory limit. Where/how do I change this limit?
