OS: 4.2.2.180
Carrier: TMobile
Default Os: 8320 4.5.0.52/4.5.0.37 - 06-29-2008, 10:07 AM

This OS will work on ANY carrier's 8320 device:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...5D5E7C5356E9FF

Software Download for Dialog Sri Lanka
To view software for a BlackBerry product, please select a product from the drop down menu and click Select :

Software For BlackBerry 8320 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.52 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.52
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.37
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.55
* File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37_V odafone_Dialog_(Sri_Lanka).exe
* File size: 77.69MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

To install this software on any 8320:

1. Download and install the latest Desktop Manager.
2. Download and install the OS packaged linked above.
3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB, open Desktop Manager and you should be prompted to upgrade.

(Link to previous 4.2.2.184 OS Click Here.)

This particular version was known to damage sim cards on the TMobile 8320 requiring the sim to be replaced during beta testing. Also, this version was known to not support UMA on many TMobile 8320's. TMobile users load at your own risk.

*Note: Also, on all devices it's a good idea to make a backup of your media card before loading OS 4.5. Constant reboots can occur when using media cards formatted in OS 4.2 or 4.3 in OS 4.5. Then reformat the media card in OS 4.5 and restore your data.

*Note: While in Application Loader be sure and check to boxes to add Documents To Go to your device. Failure to install Documents To Go will cause java errors in some 3rd party apps.

Can't get to the link.

EDIT: The link goes to the Vodafone site, but doesn't have the 4.5 version for the 8320. The link goes to the 4.2 version.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8320)

I am using beta 4.5.0.44 with no major issues on my T-Mobile 8320. Was that version also causing issues like this one is said to be?

ANY of the betas can cause unforeseen consequences to your device. You are using at your own risk. .37 fried SIMs for TMO users, but i do not believe others have.

Default T-Mobile Users who have downloaded and installed this software - 06-29-2008, 12:32 PM

Hello all,

I've been looking for the latest version of BB OS 4.5 for my T-Mobile 8320, but I'm hesitant to download it, as every site I find it on clearly warns users, especially T-Mo users, that it could severely mess up your device. Can anybody confirm that this software--the software from this exact link--works on a T-Mo BlackBerry Curve 8320? Specifically, I want to make sure UMA works.

Also, the software says something about "Dialogue Sri Lanka." What's that all about?

Thanks for your help.

As a T-mobile user, you should avoid this OS like it was the plague.
This OS version has been knows to kill SIM cards in T-Mo devices and I believe UMA has also been problematic.

Yeah, that's what I keep hearing. I'm just hoping some different version will be found that isn't so rough on us T-Mo folks.

Thanks, though.

That's normal. Leave it be. After it erases it will reload the OS. Then it will reboot and sit with the hourglass for 20-30 minutes. Just let it go. When it's done it will restore your data.

No. UMA doesn't work on this release (for most) and it fried a lot of sim cards a month or two ago when it first leaked out.

what are the chances that those issues were corrected, and how do we know if they still exsist being everyone is staying away from this release.

It's the same version. If they had fixed anything that would be another version number.

That's a good question. Vodafone doesn't have UMA so it works fine for them. It didn't fry their sim cards either. However, TMo users had damaged sim cards and no UMA. You can try it if you like.

Aye Caramba! I am on a T-Mob 8320 and this is the WORST 4.5 they could have released! .18 was better for for me! I am running .42, which is generally fine, but I would like to be running a "legit" OS. I would go back a bit, but not to this. I will patiently await another legit 4.5, and stop chasing Betas. I promise.

Note to T Mobile 8320 users- this is the exact same OS that killed two of my SIM cards.

Does anyone know off hand how prevalent UMA is outside of T-Mobile? Do other carriers in or out of the USA use it?
