Default Downgrade from 4.5 back to 4.3 issue...question!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey...getting tired of a few specific bugs in 4.5 and want to downgrade back to 4.3 OS.
I know that loading a backup from when I had 4.3 won't work so how do I make the Desktop Mgr detect that I have 4.3 installed on my PC and install it on my device? I already uninstalled the 4.5 device software from my PC so only have 4.3 on there now but opening Desktop Mgr doesn't prompt me to install 4.3 to the device...any ideas?
Also, I don't see any new vendor.xml file to delete like I did when upgrading to 4.5 so I don't know how else to make it prompt me for 4.3!

Okay, now it seems to be prompting me to load 4.3 when I go to App Loader so I guess I figured it out.

Question: can I transfer over the loader files for WordToGo, SlideshowToGo, and Spell Checker to 4.3 when I downgrade? Will they work fine? Thanks

Also, what is the net_rim__plazmic_themereader that came along with 4.5? Is it an updated version of the regular theme reader? Any benefit of trying to put that on the device once 4.3 is back on it?

Those are apps included in OS 4.5. They may not transfer back to 4.3. Plazmic theme reader is in all the OS's. You'll have it in 4.3, too. I wouldn't try and use any of the 4.5 .cod's in 4.3. You're likely to run into major issues.

I understand that they might cause some issues...I am mainly interested in the DocsToGo apps...does anyone think there is any way that it would work and not cause problems if I transfer them to 4.3? Just looking for a second opinion although I most likely won't be doing it...

Docs to go is really a 3rd party app. You can give it a shot. I don't know that anyone has tried it yet. Good luck!

Will do then...it would be good to know if it works for other people as well.

I have two ALX files: DocumentsToGo and DocViewer (not sure if they are relevant).

I also have 15 COD files all related to the 'ToGo' apps, not sure which to use. There's the main ones with the main name (i.e. DocsToGo.alx) but then also ones like DocsToGoResource.alx, DocsToGoResource_en.alx, -_es.alx, -_fr.alx and also the same 4 or 5 each for SlideshowToGo and WordToGo. What should I try to load?

Two problems and a question I've always wanted to ask:

After the downgrade was complete, the Desktop Mgr gave me this message:

"Warnings were encountered during the loading process:

The following databases could not be fully restored to your device:

Default Service Selector 0 of 4 entries restored, Firewall Options 0 of 1 entries restored

The backup data file has been saved to...."

I got this message even though everything seems fine on the device so far. Is it something I should worry about? Anyone have any idea what it means? The firewall seems to enable just fine (not that I use it) but I don't know..

Second problem:

Somewhere between going from 4.5 back to 4.3, I somehow lost my address book entries (of course)...this sucks because I of course had a lot of numbers in there. I loaded up the two backups I have and looked at what databases they had and neither had the address book with any entries at all (therefore empty ones just like what's on my phone now). I don't know how this happened or how to get it back but I'm really upset over this because I thought address book entries get carried over! Ughhh anyone have any suggestions? For future knowledge, how would I backup the address book individually into its own file that I can keep and restore at any time?

And the question:

Is it just my Curve or does this happen to anyone else??: Ever since I've had it, let's say it was just rebooted or the battery was just pulled and was rebooted; when the screen is still on from that initial booting up, the keyboard backlight does not operate whatsoever, just stays off even though the screen is on ever since booting up. But, once the screen has gone black from inactivity or you put it in standby to turn the screen off, and then you turn the screen back on, then the keyboard lights up and operates like normal from then on. Anyone else have this? Happens every time the phone has rebooted and the screen hasn't been shut off for the first time yet.

Thanks!!

hmm okay that's good that someone else saw it too..any ideas what it's referring to or what it means though? I can't help but wonder if something now functions differently or wrong since getting that message, even if it's 'internal' and unseen to us.

Problem 1: It just means that part of the backup wasn't able to be restored. The device will recreate it anyway.

Problem 2: Not sure why your addresses wouldn't have carried over. That is usually backed up during the process.

I received the same message when I finished loading 4.3 back on my pearl from 4.5. I noticed my address book didn't load. When I loaded my backup file into DM, the address book showed but it was greyed out and wouldn't let me select it to load back to my phone. I went back to 4.5 and it allowed me to load it again.

I think it backed up your address book just fine but is 4.5 has done something to your address book that isn't allowing it load your address book on a lower version.

This sucks as I really liked the "Roam Only" feature of 4.3 as at my work I bounce in and out of sprint signal.
