Default Best Screen protector for scratches and a case for pockets? - 07-02-2008, 06:52 PM

What do you guys recommend? I haven't even opened up my curve yet, that means so far it's scratch less.
Also, do I need a case since it's going to be in my pocket almost always? I'm not a fan of any sort of belt clip.

Thanks

I would recommend a case to prevent damage and debris collecting in the trackball from your pocket. Check out Forte, they have some gorgeous VERY slim leather pouches that are very thin and add almost no bulk to the device.

Bestskinsever.com I think that's the site address, sells cheap full body skins and screen covers that are made of similar material as the invisible shield at a cheaper price!

The OEM pocket it comes with is all I ever use and I have not had any problems so far. Perfect for keeping in my pocket or girlfriend's purse if I don't feel like having it on me when we go out.

Is this case bulky? If not, it looks excellent.

I'd prefer a case that has an opening for the screen so I wouldn't have to take it out everytime.

here is a link of the review of the otterbox
Review: My first day with the OtterBox Defender Series | BlackBerryNews.com

this appears to cover the entire bb...myself wanted to protect the screen so you already know what I did.....but like I stated afterwards this looks nice...I just think of the money the bb cost and would do all I can to protect it....man this thing is addictive.

If you just want protection for screen and stay light, check out "Fellowes" products. I purchased a dozen at Best Buy and change them every six months. My recollection was that they cost $1 each sheet. Very effective.

I agree on the BSE. I've been using it for a while and I always keep my Curve loose in my pocket. Looks just like the day I installed the BSE, with no bulk whatsoever.

I used to love the Zagg InvisibleShields, but when I found the BestSkins Ever, I changed over. BSEs are the same as the IS and much cheaper. You can buy 3 or 4 BSEs for the price of one IS (and, lets face it: you aren't keeping the device long enough to need to change the shield more than 3 or 4 times, so what is the lifetime warranty really worth?). Stick with BSE. I have them for all of my devices (phone, iPod, GPS, digital camera) and love them.

Just installed the ZAGG full body kit and love it. Tough as nails, looks great and took about 20-25 minutes to install. Now I feel like my crackberry is protected from scratches and dirt. I also keep my curve in a OEM leather BB holster.

Just thought I'd share

The form-fitting (snap-on) hard cases work great for me. Seido has a variety of these. I also add extra protection by applying a screen protector. When you have the Berry in a molded hard case, it is a good idea to also install Soft-Reset, a useful app that will allow you to reset the device just like a battery pull, without having to remove the case and actually pull the battery. This is on the website Geek and Proud.

That is what I am using a form fitting snap on hard case and I put a screen protector on the screen. My problem now is that its a tight fit in the leather pouch that came with my 8310. Any ideas for a simular pouch less tight?

If you are using the hard case AND a screen protector, you may not need a pouch, unless you just want to keep dust out. It just adds more bulk otherwise.

Yea that is my concern about dust. I don't work in a dusty place but I like to be able to put the BB in my pant pocket.

The Zagg product looks good. I sometimes carry the device in my pocket, when we walk for instance. But most of the time I carry it in a belt clip pouch.

The Zagg system would probably let me still use the belt clip pouch.

Wish I had discovered this system before I dropped my Curve on the asphalt the other day. Now have a nick on one corner...not a disaster but would rather it had not happened.

It can be tricky if it's your first time applying one. Just take your time and use the spray as it keeps the pieces from sticking right away so you can reposition them.

You'll need less of it as you get used to applying them.

Oh God this!

I watched a co-worker's i-phone bounce off the cement without so much as a scratch. After he saw our faces of horror he smiled, held it up and said, "Naaah it's an Otterbox." My choice was made right there and then.

Yeah, the Otterbox ain't cheap, but it's cheaper than having to buy a new BB, right?

Just think about it.
