Default Desktop manager 4.5 help

Please Login to Remove!

I downloaded 4.5 for my bb, but desktop manager is not working well with outlook now. Any thoughts? Helps? Anyone? I am fairly new to bb. I don't use it for email or surfing the net. I merely wanted a smaller replacement for my lunky Dell Axim PDA that would double as a phone. Found it in the BB 8310. Just need to sync correctly.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I uninstalled it! It was WAY slower than 4.3. Go back until they fix it....sorry to say it. :|

When you say "not working well" what exactly is the problem?

ok, here we go. When I used DM4.5 Outlook was not even an option. I deleted it and reinstalled 4.2.2, which came with my 8310. Outlook does not show appointments, although the "all day event" ones are in bold on the monthly calendar, they do not show on the daily calendar. I cannot delete the "all day event" bolded appts., they are not in the daily to delete. I tried re-doing them, ms outlook tells me this conflicts with another appointment (which I cannot see). Originally, when i did a sync, the notes and dates in BB doubled. I deleted them and tried again....deleted ALL of them and redid them, tried syncing again.....same thing. I feel like Abbot & Costello......THIRD BASE! Hope this makes things clear to you....I am still somewhat befuddled.

First, the most likely reason DM 4.5 won't work with your Outlook is that support for Outlook 2000 was removed from DM 4.3 and higher. My guess is that you have Outlook 2000?

As for the other issues, I'm not sure. Make a backup of your device and then do the following.

1. Use Backup/Restore Advanced to clear the calendar database on the BB.
2. Then setup sync to "refresh" the data on your BB from Outlook. This will put everything from Outlook into your BB just as it's loaded in Outlook.
3. Then go back and set the sync to "syncronize" both directions.

I've had to muddle through this at times myself. Once it's all setup, though, it's usually good to go.

Make the backup first so you can restore it back to where it is right now if it all goes awry on you.

John,
I made my backup and did what you said. Nothing has changed. I am beginning to think it is a Microsoft problem, not BB. I may have to reinstall outlook. Unless you know of a way to refresh outlook info.
Thanks again for all your help.

My suggestion assumes that you have Outlook working fine and that all your appointments are showing up normally in Outlook. Is that the case?

John,
I managed to delete all the stuff in my Outlook calendar. After that, syncing was a breeze. I am trying to talk hubby into updating Office...he hates the 2003/2007 format.
Again, thank you so much for your help. You are truly an amazing person.
Karen
