Default Keyboard not Responding

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I currently have a Blackberry 8310. I have had no problems with the phone until today. While I was in the middle of a text message, the keyboard spontaneously stopped working. I only have a functioning track ball, with the phone punching out random keys once in a while. The only way that I can get the phone to respond is to plug it into/out of a charger. Does anyone know what is wrong or can be done to solve this problem? I have been able to find almost no relevant information anymore, only problems with no solutions.
Thanks.

Have you tried a battery pull (removing battery for 30 secs while phone is on)

Was the device exposed to moisture in any way?

I have already tried this several times. No, it was not, there is no water damage to the phone.

Do you generally keep the BB in a case or clip, or bare in your pocket? Is there a chance some pocket link or something got underneath the keyboard preventing the connection to the board?

If this is the case, the best way I have found (instead of taking the whole thing apart) is to remove the trackball and spray some canned air under the KB.

I usually keep it in a side pocket of my purse when I am out of the house and when I am at home it sits on my desk or window sill charging. I was sitting in my room text messaging when the keyboard stopped working. If there was something underneath the keyboard would I need to take the phone apart to extract it?

Like I said, if that is the case, I would try spraying some air in a can under it first. The hardware is not my specialty, so I avoid taking apart my BB at all costs,

first of all i just want to say sorry about your problem, i have a similar problem.

my phone was exposed to some water, but not much, the sticker behind the battery is not red either. it may have been a few drops on top of the keyboard. this all happened over night when a glass of water spill, but not directly on the phone. i left the phone in a sock with rice. phone turns on, but when i try to type in my password to unlock the phone, and the keys are messed up. meaning i push one letter, and it types in 3 letters. any ideas on what i can do?
