Default slow curve - 07-05-2008, 08:17 PM

i've had my curve for only a month or so and its response is already so slow. it happens most of the time when i'm sending a sms or mms, it'll freeze for a few seconds then catch up. is there anything i can do to fix this or has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

What is your file free? Wrench Icon> Status. It's likely that you are low on memory. Follow the steps listed in the thread below to free up memory used for unused items.

You should definately do something since you only have about 3MB of memory on your BlackBerry. I don't have a Mac so I can't really help you beyond the link I posted. Sorry. But, I'm fairly, positive that is what is causing your problem. I have about 20MB or so of free memory and mine runs just fine.

Nevermind. Disregard that last post because I'm drunk and couldn't count your number properly. It looks as if you actually have about 33MB free. Still, I don't know what could be causing you problem. Unless you have a lot of programs running in the background. That could be slowing your device down. Have you tried doing a battery pull to see if that speeds it up at all?

Did you have Vlingo installed? I noticed that my Curve started to slow down a few days after I intalled that craptacular software.

I had problems sending SMS and MMS messgaes when I was using 4.2 OS, after upgrading to 4.5 it's been much more responsive.

Do you have a lot of SMS stored? Some people report slowness when the database get's huge. Also, do you have a lot of BB Messenger Conversations? If so end them and clear history.

Menu>options>Status>Menu>Database sizes

Can you post the size of your SMS database?

Also, if you are using a third party theme that can slow things down. If you are try a native BB theme and see if it's faster.
