Default A question about plans - 07-08-2008, 04:40 PM

So i've been lookin at a new phone for verizon for awhile now. and it came down to the glyde, voyager and the curve. i finally picked the curve and i read on another forum that i cant use the unlimited data plan for $30, i have to use a blackberry plan. I know you can use it without a data plan but i want to be able to get on the internet. I just dont want to pay for the bb plan. so does anyone who has verizon know anything about this

It is my understanding that Verizon requires that you add a BlackBerry data plan. Not all carriers require it, but they do.

I'm not with Verizon but it's known across the board that VZW will force you to add a BB data plan. If you don't want to pay for it you'll need to choose a non-BB device.

...or switch carriers.

I have verizon, and they do require you to purchase the Blackberry Unlimited (sorta) plan. Which is an additional 29.99 a month if you are not on a corporate server.

I never seem to get a staight answer from the people that I talk to on the phone, I don't think they have alot of experience with blackberries so they sort of fumble their way through an answer. I'm sure they know all their is to know about text messaging and all the normal phones but whenever i have a billing question about changing plans involving the blackberry part, they always seem to be clueless. The tech support that I have received personally for the blackberry has been top notch (so far) so that is a plus.

Good luck in your search.

The big difference is that most carriers have an unlimited txt and data plan for about $30 for most phones but for the BB you have to get the $30 BB Data Plan which does NOT include txt which for us on AT&T is another $20. So $50 to have a truely unlimited BB Plan.
