You can find out if your BB is locked or not by following the instructions found here on BB forums. Go to Blackberry FAQ from top menu. Under general device FAQs, select "How do I determine if my Blackberry is unlocked?"

Most likely, if you are able to call and SMS, your phone is either unlocked or locked to your carrier. However, whether it's locked or not, you will not be able to use internet without a blackberry internet plan.

Normally, you have to get the unlock code from the carrier the phone is locked to. In the states, if you are not a current customer, you won't be able to get the unlock code from the carrier and will need to pay to get the unlock code.

HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center they are a great resource for unlocking.
In the US if you can produce a bill of sale at retail price the carrier will supply you with the unlock code as well. Even if you are not a current customer.

Do your diligence, there are company that will service you very well and give you real codes and excellent communication, there are others that you have to fight for your money back if you get anything.

I would suggest to do your research so you get the code. Yes unlock codes are real and yes you can get them for a small fee.

Yes horizonwirelessonline.com is a very well respected site here. I have gotten many codes from them, nearly all within 24 hours.

Are you saying that you can make calls and SMS but can't browse the web?

Do you have a Blackberry data plan?

Well, as far as i know, if your phone i locked then the phone won't identify your sim at all which means u can't get network, make calls or send sms.

You might wanna try to put any sim which have a data plan & try if the browsing works.
