I bought the unlimited usage of the Garmin Navigation. Does it require a data plan for it to work? I have the 8310 w/ GPS.

Use of the Garmin with you Blackberry has nothing to do with your Blackberry plan as it is using Bluetooth and GPS. Even a Blackberry with no SIM card should still receive GPS via Bluetooth if you can get it to work.

As far as "Garmin Navigation", you will likely havr to go to one of the Garmin Forums to get that answer.

I am not using bluetooth so I don't understand that part. If I cancel my data plan, should the Garmin Navigation still work? I'm thinking it should because it's using the GPS system in the phone.

Are your Garmin maps preloaded (SDCard) or are you pulling them over the network. That should answer your question.

You need a data plan so that Garmin can download the maps, you can not store the maps on device, it will not work without a data plan.

That is what I figured. Is there a BB GPS solutions that includes the maps without data assist?

If you're talking about the Garmin Mobile application on the BB, it absolutely does require a data plan.

Depends. Where do the maps come from? Are they loaded onto an SD card, or do they come over the air, on demand, like Google Earth and Blackberry's own Maps applications do? If the latter, you'll need a data plan.

I was able to store maps on my memory card and use them with the GPS reciever without accessing the internet... therefore... no internet usage. Check out these sites

Use them in conjuntion with each other and it makes for a pretty good solution. The maps can take up quite a bit of memory, so beware of that. Otherwise I am very happy with it.
