Exclamation HELP nuked berry ... desperately in need of help

Please Login to Remove!

ok ... i am officially stumped ... i've got a berry 8320 ... about a week or 2 my battery was running low so i plugged my phone into the external charger to let it charge ... suddenly i noticed my berry was flashing ... i looked at it and saw the hour glass of death !!

took the battery out left it out for half an hour put it back in .. the hour glass was still there ....

after a bit of searching i came across the 101 for recovering a nuked berry .. followed the instructions and got up to the point where it was reconnecting to the JVM and then it says :

"unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load application"

since then I've tried several things .. some of which i tried because it made sense others because i was desperate and I hoped it would work ... I've tried the following :

first i tried to invoke the command line interface with the options switch as per the "how do i recover a dead blackberry" forum discussion ... that didnt work

then i thought I' take the memory card out and try to follow the instructions for recovering a nuked berry ... that didnt work i still had the same problem ...

then for some reason i thought unlocking the vendor themes might help [ i don't know why i thought that might help i suppose i was getting really desperate] i followed the instructions on the "how to unlock all vendor themes" forum discussion .... that didn't work...

then i tried to wipe the blackberry using Jl Cmder...that didn't work

After losing all hope i thought I'd give it another shot by simply deleting the os i had.... then i downloaded it again and re-installed it ... followed the instructions again on how to recover a nuked berry ...no luck ... this time i did it with the battery and memory card out through the entire process.... and i still had the same error when it was trying to reconnect to JVM..

then i followed the following instructions hoping it would work ...
0) Download Desktop Manager and the OS for your specific phone (got mine from the Sprint site)
1) remove battery, disconnect USB from PC
2) Launch Desktop Manager
3) Choose Application Loader
4) Click next
5) NOW connect the USB, without the battery installed
6) Proceed with picking the s/w packages
7) Once the install starts PUT IN THE BATTERY

IT DIDNT WORK ... each and every time it gets stuck on reconnecting to JVM and then i get the same error msg ...

SOMEONE PLS HELP ME !!!

oh i should probably mention .... the first time i connected my device i was asked for my password i was given 10 attempts i tried all the passwords i had ever used on my berry none of them worked and i figured since failing to enter the correct password deletes everything and rebooting and re installing everything would delete everything anyway it wouldnt make a difference... but now i'm starting to wonder if that's causing these problems

but since i constantly get stuck when its trying to reconnect to JVM im wondering if we should be focussing on that ... what does reconnecting to JVM mean ... and y wont it connect??

sighhhhh someone help me pls

sounds like you tried everything.....

call sprint blackberry peopleand talk to them. they may connect you to RIM. if anyone will be able to fix this, RIM will. if not, you should be covered under the 1 year limited through RIM/SPRINT and will get a new one in a few days... assuming they have the damn thing in stock

Do not fool with it. Return it to the carrier and ask them to recover your personal data.

Before you take it back, be sure the original OS (the one that came with it) is on the unit or the warranty will be voided. Most people upgrade their OS and forget to downgrade it for a return.

Really I think that some people read only the half. Please read the complete msg before answering.

How could you downgrade the bb if you cant load the os or it wont turn on. Please tell me. Because the answer is read the question first because it cant load so he cant downgrade or something els. If he could downgrade the bb would prolly work or his question would be different.

The multistage load error message means that the USB port is not supplying enough power to the BB during the load, so it fails.

Try another USB port - and make sure you are not using a USB hub. If using a laptop, make sure thatpower managment is not interfering with the USB power.

Upgrading the OS voids the warranty? Even a successful upgrade? That seems sort of ridiculous, since you aren't tampering with any hardware. Now you've got me scared that I upgraded my OS from the official 4.3 to the newer 4.5.

Has anyone - I have asked this question many, many, many times already - EVER had a warranty exchange denied because of the OS upgrade?

The application of a BETA OS may indeed void your warranty (also unconfirmed) but surely a carrier-released OS will not.

I'm sorry we cannot honor your warranty request because you loaded the updated OS that we released for your device.

I bought my BB in NYC when I was on vacation. Do I have any warranty? Because I had the hour glass of dead once and now I only have a red light all the time and thats keeps buring. I get the "unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load application" also. Is there no way to fix the BB curve 8320?

Warranty services are extended by the seller. So I would ask the person/entity you bought yours from about your warranty status. It's likely that you do not have warranty protection unless you bought it from a carrier or other reputable retailer.

I bought it at PocketPowerhouse@Cex. It was a second hand but fully tested good. turned in my 8300 for it. Let me give them a call for a check because they are also in England and thats a bit closer to me. Thanks for your help.

Did you read post #8 here - you have to try a different USB port.
