Default BB Messenger Question on 8830

I am setting up my friend's Curve from Sprint. I think there may be something with the BBM. If you push on the BlackBerry Key to Add a Contact there is no option to "Request Pin". I was able to add her only by having her pin stored in my phone. What could this issue be? Thanks!

In messenger:

Menu>Add a Contact>(scroll up to [use once]>Menu>request by PIN.

Good Luck!

Ah, I see. I have an 8830 and I do not have to know the actual PIN. I wonder why RIM changed that. It was much easier to do it on an 8830. Thanks!
