Memory Optimization Travesty.

I followed the steps accordingly to clear up some space on my AT&T Curve 8310.

When the device booted up, the vanilla theme was used in absence of the AT&T theme, which I had removed.

I left the BB Dimension L theme for me to use, but when I go into the options, I am unable to select it.

The camera no longer works, either. The device displays:

"Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again."

It also shows that there is only enough space for 12 pictures, which was what the camera application displayed prior to the memory optimization.

I am using the Vodafone 4.5.0.37 OS.

are you 100% positive that you followed every step precisely?

I spent and hour reading through it multiple times, then I spent two hours making sure I understood what I had read by clicking around the DM install to see what was what.

I know but it doesnt take but removing one extra letter some where and boom your history. You can always reload the OS and run the dm again and it will fix it

I just did another optimization per JC instructions and it worked like a charm. Dawg is right, if you miss one thing then you have to start over.

Ive screwed my stuff up more than once.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Correct me if I am wrong. We can delete the icon and today dimension themes, but we should not touch the Zen Theme?

right

Thank you. It is tempting to remove because of the amount of space it takes and the existence of the L Theme.

Dawg 07-13-2008 12:28 AM

I delete them all except zen and L but thats just me.

I delete all but zen and Tmobile zen.

My guess is the OP deleted the Dimension zen theme. In my post I recommend leaving all themes that have "Dimension" in them.

Also, if you delete the theme that is currently in use on the BB then you may get the "vanilla" (black/white) theme on reboot after removing everything. Either make sure you switch themes to the one you want to keep before making the changes or use the swiss army knife icon to change themes if you get the black/white theme.
