Default OS: 8310 4.5.0.62/4.5.0.44 (MultiLanguage) - 07-14-2008, 12:19 PM

8310:

Software For BlackBerry Curve 8310 (TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.44
This OS will load on any carrier's 8310 model as long the user follows the instructions below exactly as written.

Filename: 8310M_rel62_PL2.7.0.61_A4.5.0.44.exe

Package Version: 4.5.0.62
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.44
Software Platform: 2.7.0.61
File name: 8310M_rel62_PL2.7.0.61_A4.5.0.44.exe
File size:78.7 MB

http://www.a1.net/downloadcenter/831..._A4.5.0.44.exe

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Just curious, what carrier's version is this? Changes from .37? Worth updating?

Where is A1? The steak sauce country?

Nevertheless, this .44 release is MUCH better, more stable than the .37.

Browser issues with entering text is fixed, is the biggie. I think this release was the one also that got Youtube working on mine.

I downloaded the latest OS...like it very much. My question--I now have more sample ring tones, which show up in media. But when I want to use it as a "custom ring tone" in a contact in the address book, it does not show up. Under Media/ringtones, it shows under "All Ring Tones", but not under "Preloaded Ring Tones.

Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

.44 release is the latest release from a carrier yes. .37 was the previous release. Both of these are official, and nothing else that you find on the net is actually supposed to be out there yet (ie, Beta)

Mine went pretty quick; however, I was the first to download it. Being that it's coming from A1's server, it's probably overloaded depending on how many people are downloading it right now.

Same error as .37

Multiple computers, latest DM, steps followed EXACTLY. Even used a seperate data cable. Keep getting "Fatal error occured trying to update device" immediatly after it shuts off the radio.

You need BES 4.1.6 or a "hacked" 4.1.5.

You will still get BIS emails in HTML. BES 4.1.5 is the latest release. 4.1.6 isnt out yet. Search the forums here and you will see that jibi has posted a way to enable HTML email processing on BES 4.1.5

Looks like the leaked beta is still newer than this official one.. Any users try RSA software on this version (which does work on the .52 beta)

I just finished upgrading my Curve... I was on the .42 beta and the OPTIONS | ABOUT would not open... after this upgrade, everything so far was good til I modified the alx file taking out alot of what John recommends in the free up memory instructions he has posted.. Now the About is not opening again.. anyone else having this trouble? Is there something that needs to be there for this to open?

If you read the JCMOP thread (John Clark's Memory Optimization Process) you will note that in removing the VAD voice activated dialing, you won't be able to use Options > About.

Use ALT + rightSHIFT + H instead, or ALT EACE. Same difference, same screen.

Presently have 4.5.0.37; and am not having any significant problems to speak of. Can someone tell me if it's worth it to upgrade to this newer version, and what will be different?

thanks

Sometimes that which you seek most is not hiding and lies just before you... Ancient Chinese proverb - Not - I just made that up.

Found the link, thanks.

And also installed 4.5 flawlessly so far.

Could some one tell me how to check version of BES? If it's not 4.1.6, what would be the problem for me?

Also, does any of 4.5 support Chinese/Japanese/Korean?

Thanks!

Keep it, don't unplug yet. I have seen it take an hour and half if you have lots of messages, phone logs, etc.
