Default Curve as Modem Issue

Please Login to Remove!

I've loaded the software from sprint (latest version) and the software just won't consistently detect my curve. I got it to work twice since I've had my curve (3 weeks) but other times it just can't detect. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Those 2 times that it did detect it, I can't recall what I did but I know it wasn't detected by just plugging it in to USB. I had the Pearl previously and I had no issues at all. Desktop Manager detects my curve just fine, its just that smartview software thats not detecting it.

Anyone else having this issue and any suggestions???? I'm paying for this service and can't consistently use it when I need it.

Do you have Desktop Manager running? It's needed (at least device manager app) for the modem to be detected when I use a modem connection, not sure if Sprint software requires it.

When I have desktop manager open and open sprint software, the desktop manager software automatically closes. I thought maybe both needed to be open as well.

Try setting up a new modem connection in Network Settings, use #777 for the number and choose the "Standard Modem" as the modem (make sure DM is running). When I had Sprint I didnt use their software, I did it this way.

If I don't use their software, will I get charged somehow? I thought maybe if I tried to tether by not using their software I might get charged. I will try your way when I get home.

Thanks Steve, I got it working using yoru way. It seems slow though compared to when I used my pearl and the sprint software. I could be thinking to much into it though. Does using yoru way get the same speed as if using the sprint software?

Wirelessly posted

Sprint PCS Software: Sprint PCS Connection Manager Software from Sprint

Make sure you do have the modem option added to your plan.

WIth the curve, its recommend that you use smart view and not connection manager. You can get it at the same spot, but I have helped a lot of people overcome PAM issues by switching to smartview
