I updated last night to 4.5 and I'm loving it, had my 8320 curve for about a month 1/2. Only Issue is the media and ringtone volume but searching in the forums have brought up some chances of fixing it, other than that totally digging it! Running smooth and NO problems at all, everything's been good so far Thanks!

Default Speakerphone is not working - 08-16-2008, 07:43 PM

After I installed BB 4.5 OS the speakerphone stop working . It works in voicenotes, but when I receive a call and press the "$" key to turn to speaker mode it doesn't make any sound.
I don't think is the hardware. Before I upgraded it it worked. Any Idea?

Welcome to the forums. That's the first report I've heard of that...at least I don't recall anyone else having that issue.

OK, I installed the new DT Manager and downloaded the new OS. After deleting the vendor file, I opened DT Manager and it did not prompt for an update.

9 times out of 10 people don't delete the vendor.xml LAST. Go back and check to make sure it's deleted. It gets installed with Desktop Manager and AGAIN with the OS.

you can remove that when you are connected to the DT manager with your BB...just go to App loader and remove it from there.

I didn't see a reply to your message. What seemed to do the trick for me was launching the browser for the first time WITHOUT WIFI first. After that, it seems to work ok.

I recently upgraded to version 4.5.0.52 and noticed my volume level went down drastically. Before I could hear my BB from another room or two and now I can only hear it in the same room, I mean its not bad but I kinda liked the loudness of it. Any one know how or why that happened?

Welcome to BBF!

This happens with some OS's. it's just in the coding of the software.

Anyone had problems with the internet browswer.. I've put a new post up here, but while i can't see how its linked, it did seem directly related to the os upgrade, i noticed it straight away, and havnt been able to find a fix since. my operator were unable to help, despite being orange uk, they say the upgrade wasnt authorised because its not on their website and is nothing to do with them. hmmm

That sucks. So when they come up with a newer version is it possible to get the volume back up to a deafening level?

I don't know how Youtube works for you guys. But maybe it's the media player.
I have always had problems with the media player. It errors on m4a files, doesn't show video on mp4 (but plays the audio), and now errors on youtube (network activity lights up at first, but then stops and errors).

Anybody?

I had the same problem to switch to speaker mode, it was working with OS prior to V4.5.0.52. Any solution?

Hi,
A report on my upgrade: I have T-Mobile 8320 Curve that I got last Christmas and upgraded the old desktop manager and device software/OS to the OS in the 1st link in the first post of this thread. The upgrade took less than an hour, including installation of desktop manager and backup of phone numbers, a few programs, etc.
I had to re-add "wap.voicestream.com" in my Advanced TCP Options, but that's it so far.
The browser crashed twice this morning (both times while loading this site ;) ) but in general I love the overall feel of the browser and of the OS - both feel smooth and responsive.
Tried using the video camera without a memory card, it said right when loaded "insert a memory card" or something, and then froze showing a still shot of what the camera lense was pointed at, requiring a battery pull. I also tried going to m.youtube.com and playing a video - it launched media player which said something like "cannot play this file format" and when I clicked OK it shut down media player and the browser.
I like the new font and I'm glad I upgraded!
-Bill

Did you get this to work? I installed Desktop Manager 4.5 and the OS update but did not get prompted for the update when connecting my BB.

UPDATE: did a complete uninstall and re-install of everything, seems to work.

You mean:

Searched the forum, read the posts, downloaded the OS, followed the instructions....and works great.

Nice job.

Default Unlocked Blackberry 8320 Upgrade - 08-19-2008, 10:35 PM

Hi, I've purchased an unlocked TMOBILE blackberry from the US. Does anyone know if I should expect the phone to get locked if I upgrade to the 4.5 OS on the blackberry? I know that some people were having such issues on the I-Phone, but I'm not sure if the same will happen with my 8320. I would like to upgrade because I'm having a lot of the same bluetooth issues that most of the other people are having with theirs. Please let me know if I should proceed with upgrading or do I run the risk of locking my phone?

Thanks a lot.

No, the BlackBerry will NEVER lock again after it's been unlocked. There is nothing you can do to relock it.

Just loaded up 4.5.0.52 everything seems to be working well, I like the HTML emails and the video camera, I have been out of the loop and didn't even know I could get that.

Did you delete the vendor.xml file? Make sure you do that last...right before plugging in to do the update.

the only things ive noticed that are kinda odd in this on my t-mo 8320 is in the browser there used to be all kinds of links to stuff like accuweather cnn espn blackberry help stuff like that well its all gone theres a couple of new ones and my saved bookmarks. the wap list is gone too but sense its not a tmo release im sure thats why. is there a way to get these back? if so how?. the other thing ive noticed the new software splits your myfaves contacts up in seperate contacts in the address book. so theres 2 entries for every myfave.

Did anyone here had to reconfigure their browser? I couldnt find the BlackBerry Browser; all I found was the t-zones and the Hotspot Browser.

Also, my t-zones browser is extremely slow(at loading pages). Am I suppose to keep the encoding at ISO8859?

If your "internet browswer" is missing but you have your other ones, then try resending your service books.
