My first problem with my Curve and this OS.

Plugged it in to my PC to Sync and the Curve restarted.

I have had the new OS running for a couple of days without any problems and multiple syncs before this one.

Oh, anyone else have the problem that any personalization of icon order and hide/un-hide are lost after a battery pull or restart??

OK.... now while trying to re-order my icons again my highlight of the cursor on the home screen has disappeared...

I am new bb user.
I want to know if I can install 8320 v4.5 firmware (with Chinese character) onto my bb which is provided by 3HK as I cannot find any update from 3HK but HKCSL & Smartone-Vodafone of Hong Kong have provided v4.5 update.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much.
I would like to confirm if I have to save any record /data before upgrade.
I was not required to config. the settings and was able to receive the office email when I got my bb. Will I need to perform the config. for receiving the office email after upgrade ?
Many thanks.

Thanks but I would like to know if I have to config. my bb for receiving the email after upgrade. Or just insert the Sim and the bb would config. and connect to the server automatically ?
Thanks again.

If you're on BES you'll have to reactivate on the BES. If you're just on BIS a simple resend of the service books would be all that's necessary.

Just pull out the battery, put the battery back and turn on the device, then the address book will be resent ?
I have tried to find the thread but I am worried if I got wrong method.
Thank you very much.

You lost me. How did we get talking about the address book? There are instructions on how to update in the first post. If you're still unsure then I recommend NOT doing the update.

Problems with Bluetooth not automatically connecting with my Acura TL. Never noticed before, but after the upgrade seems to randomly not automatically connect with my car. Hoping they fix this as I like everything else about the OS so far.

Not yet - I was tempted. Does it fix some bluetooth issues? I am also now noticing some weirdness on the cell side and negotiating an "EDGE" connection.

I didn't see any comments on 4.5.0.81 yet, so I wasn't sure if my bluetooth issues would be solved by it.

It always requires upper case EDGE or GPRS in order to get Blackberry data. That's the way it's always been.

Thumbs up WOW - Thanks for the thread - 08-23-2008, 09:14 PM

I have been fighting my phone for UMA access for free internet phone calls on my T-Mobile Blackberry Curve and it was randomly switching from EDGE to UMA. As soon as it appeared to be stable it would switch back to EDGE.

With this upgrade it is rock solid if I am in the vicinity of the router at work or the router at home.

Thank you again for the thread and everyone's suggestions.

Just wanted to chime in that I installed 4.5.0.75 on my T-Mobile 8320 Curve and it's AWESOME. In addition to the additional features (voice recorder, video recorder) I found the following:
  • Easy install, including data, settings, 3rd party apps
  • Better font display
  • Better calendar display
  • Vastly improved media player, including better search for playable items, quicker selection, and playlist support
  • Generally more responsive

Thanks a million to Garz for the link and instructions.

No idea why T-Mobile USA hasn't released this...unless they're skipping it to encourage people to buy the Bold...

I have T-Mobile and everything seems to be just fine. I did have to use my disk checking utility off of windows after installing I recieved an error message stateing I had inserted a disk with an error or something of that nature the disk needed to be formatted but after using the disk checking system everything was fine. I am currently having some problems signing on to T- Zones but according to T-Mobile there is an open ticket for this in my area.

I personally think the most stable OS for the 8320 is 4.5.0.69. I havent had any issues whatsoever. Im sticking with this one until the final release comes out for the slow but surely T-Mobile.

wiped 8320 and did a fresh install of 4.5.0.69 with memory enhancements a la other post and so far so good.

2 quick questions:

1. New name for WiFi browser is Hotspot Browser?

2. Anyone find a fix yet for the volume issue? There is a drastic difference in volume now . I could simply edit the ringtones themselves and bump the volume up by 100% but that would introduce clipping and make them sound a lot worse. I'm hoping someone's found a better fix.

Thanks

I upgraded it to the official 4.5.0.81 version the has been released. My phone kept rebooting ever 8 seconds. After 30 hours of troubleshooting I finally was able to downgrade it to 4.2.2.180. I had tried all the 4.5 OS, save .69 and .55, and they all had the exact same issue - my phone constantly rebooted. I recommend to NOT upgrade your phone to 4.5!

For the bazillionth time....Rebootingon OS 4.5 is a problem with the media card (likely one of the files on it,) not the OS or the device.
