Once a T-Mo, always a T-Mo... An OS update won't change that... Unlocking might... But not the OS.

I've installed the new OS and welcome all the awesome new features but i am having a few issues. Firstly though, i'd like to say that Youtube, the video recorder, and the voice note recorder all work fine.

The issue i'm having is that when i try to log into aim I get this message "Service not enabled for this handheld" but i have a data plan, and my web browser works. Can anyone let me know how to fix this?

Other differences ive noticed are that the phone is much quieter at max volume, my scribble theme seems to be a little buggy, and my browser automatically uses t-zones instead of the previous browser (cant remember what that was called actually)

You simply can't. Nothing you can do will remove the flash startup screen from TMo when you boot the device.

You may need to update the service books. Go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > press the Menu key and select Register Now. Then see if AIM works.

I just wiped my device and did a clean(er) install of 4.5.0.52 last night and AIM worked right out of the gate.

It will again, check back later. That download has been up and down a few times.

EDIT: It's back up now.

Give this a try
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do

You'll need to fill out a webform on RIMs site but it should get you to the software. I'm downloading it just fine right now.

I had my first glitch with the new OS this afternoon. My phone froze up when I tried to reply to a SMS message for no reason. I had to pull the battery to force the reboot.

Does adding a SD Micro card improve the performance of the Curve or does it merely add more storage space for stuff like MP3's?

Adding a Media Card allows you to move media, ringtones, pictures, and such OFF of your device memory. Freeing up your Device Memory can help your BB run smoother and cleaner.

I clicked the Menu button and hit Show All but still don't see a Docs2Go icon.

I'm afraid I don't understand the second question. Where would I find the java folder?

ah, I figured it out. I hooked back up to the DM, redid the load applications, and made sure Docs to Go was checked.

JS, The same thing happened to me with this theme. I recently deleted the BB Dimension Today theme (stock theme). Could that have cause my calendar entries not showing up on this this theme? I have no idea which email is connected to my calendar but tried all 3 and none work... What gives?

Okay, now after rebooting, I am getting an error that reads, "Uncaught exception: Artclinterface::DocPostToCaret: error 3; formatted text length = 29"

Does anyone know what this is?

As in ALT+Right Caps+DEL? Mine works.

I used to get a bunch of java errors and found out it was a third party app that I had to reinstall. It had gotten corrupted over time in the OS upgrades.

The SoftReset app hasn't worked on 4.5, not on mine at least.

The ALT+Right Caps+DEL key press does.

Did you ask about that?

Assuming you have more than one email address configured to your BB:
Options > Advanced > Default Services > select the email address to which your calendar events are set.

Spade, you're going to have to follow the directions in the links exactly as posted. If you are not familiar with DOS commands, it can be tricky.

Quote:
2. Change the directory to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • If you do not know how to navigate to this directory follow instructions in 2a)
2a)

From C:\ prompt type:

cd Program Files <hit enter>
cd Common Files <hit enter>
cd Research In Motion <hit enter>
Do you have a DOS prompt on your screen? That is where you will type those commands.
To get a DOS prompt, on your PC, click Start > Run and at Open, you will type cmd in the
cd AppLoader <hit enter>

I enter my calendar entries directly to my BB, how would I know which email is used for the calendar? The entries are still on my calendar after my upgrade but not showing up on the home screen in the Today theme and today plus theme...

Are you running Windows XP or Vista? You should have a directory named "Program Files" located in the root of your C: drive.

Look at your Calendar > Options > and look at your various calendars. Clicking each will tell you which calendar has the entries you need.

You are not at the c: prompt, per the instructions. You are at c:\Documents and Settings\user

In that box, as you see it there, type

cd c:\

then you should be at the root c: prompt.
Then type:

cd program files

and proceed with the instructions.

I deleted the Cal entries for service books and now they are showing after the reboot... However, now under the default services the only option I have is "Messaging (CMIME).
