Exclamation Sos

Please Login to Remove!

I have been having this happen on and off for a little while now. I recently looked in the manage connections and looked under the status and it said T-Mobile for my network. I am on AT&T and have not called as of yet to try to figure out why this is happening but thought others here may know what to do before calling AT&T.

Sos means that you can make emergency calls only. It usually happens when your device isn't getting any service.

I'm not roaming that I know of. It just happens at different times in different areas around Louisville, Ky which is where i have always used it with no problems till recently. My fiancee has this same problem with her pearl which i had before her. Its a weird problem.

I have turned off the network and turned it back on and it has a signal breifly but then says sos. The only thing that seems to help is to do a battery pull.

There could be a service outtage in your area. The only reason you should be getting SOS is because of not having any service.

I have noticed that the signal is low sometimes when this happens but sometimes it just happens suddenly and without any warning so to say. The service could be an issue though and i will have to keep an eye on it.

Thank you for the help

I had this issue off and on for a while. Simply turrning the phone off and back on again corrected it for a while until i got SOS permenantly. I had to get a new SIM card. That corrected it and never had another problem.

I have had the intermittent SOS problem for a while now. I'm in Northern VA - Washington DC area mostly.

In order to make and receive calls, I have to reboot (switch on and off). This is almost a daily occurrence, in fact sometimes twice a day.

ATT tech support says this is a known issue for Blackberry/ATT, and that it is not on their end (of course).

I was hoping to find an answer on these forums, but no luck so far.

I am currently running 4.2, and am downloading 4.5 as I type, perhaps this new OS will help.

It is NOT a "known issue for Blackberry/ATT", that is such bunk. I do see a few instances of this on the forum here, but there is not real known fix.

That can be a network issue, it can also simply be a bad SIM card.

For one, I would recommend removing your SIM, and with a pencil eraser, lightly clean the contacts on the SIM. Replace and make CERTAIN your SIM is securely in place.

You could also go by your ATT retail store and ask to sway the SIM card for a new one. They should do that for free.

SOS is not a coverage problem and is more likely a SIM card problem.

Remove your SIM card and turn on your phone and . . . . SOS

Sometimes it is a coverage issue... I know a friend who in an office at one point 10 device simultaneously were showing SOS. The cause varies, but general speaking, we are correct that it is normally a SIM issue.

Yesterday, mine went to SOS for about 5 minutes, sitting at my desk, doing nothing.

I'm sure that the SIM card could cause it, no question. However, after posting I upgraded the OS to 4.5etc.

Since my post I have not had ONE instance of SOS. Therefore, the SIM card is not the only issue that can cause this behavior.

One week, no SOS. I was usually getting the issue at least once per day. now ZERO.

Wirelessly posted (8310; RammerJammer!)

I would downgrade your OS or move on up to latest OS 4.5.
