You likely performed the memory optimization from John Clark's post, removed the VAD Voice Activated Dialing, and overlooked reading that this removes Options > About.
Instead press Alt + Shift + H
or
Hold down Alt and type E A C E.

John, I followed your instructions, and did the upgrade on my TMo 8320. Everything seems to be fine after some adjustments (most learned form the fine folks in this forum!) but like many find Google Maps hanging up on the install. After much reading, I saw you posted Google Maps 1.6.4 would work well, but after a fair amount of searching on the web can't find anything but the latest version. Any suggestions as to where I could locate 1.6.4 for download?
Thanks very much!!

I did the upgrade on Friday to my 8300. It's really awesome to be able to capture video, but I noticed when playing videos or music, the resolution seems lower and the sound quality isn't as good. Anybody know how to fix this??

Compared to what?
A 2 megapixel camera isn't going to be recording HD video with lossless sound, you know

I figured if you were smart enough to have a BB and be a member of this forum you'd understand that I was referring to sound and video played on my BlackBerry BEFORE upgrading the OS. Sorry I didn't spell that out for you.
Now run along and hopefully a non-smartass member will be able to add a sensible response ...and hey maybe even a solution!

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)
In the first post it states that it will work on ANY carriers 8300. So, yes, it will work fine.

You're kidding me right? Like I really thought my BlackBerry records sound and video in HD? Maybe if he put a smiley or an "LOL" But the way it was posted it looked like he was trying to make me look stupid. Anyway I said my peace and let it go. Not worth my time.

I have upgraded my 8310 on the Rogers network. Only glitch so far is with the video recorder.
I am running the latest 4.5.0.52 release on my 8310 and the video does not work on this release or on previous 4.5 releases. It allows me to record but does not save the video nor allow me to play it back.
I can't even close the application without pulling the battery on the Berry.
Other than that the upgrade went well. Just don't forget to delete the vendor.xml file after the upgrade install on your PC (and before you connect your Berry).

Problem Downgrading -
07-23-2008, 01:35 PM
Hello there all,
I have a problem...I recently upgraded to os 4.5 but there were some errors with my telenav. To fix it I need t odowngrade back to 4.2 and then reinstall 4.5 without backing up the telenav application. When I try to downgrade there is no Prompt to do so. I think I followed the steps correctly. Can anyone post the steps to downgrading? It would be lovely to use applications that I pay for! Thanks alot guys

I am on Rogers and upgraded to 4.5. I havent had any glitches or anything. Even my MMS works fine picture and video work great. Only thing is when upgrading os's dont back up applications that you can easily redownload. As I wrote in another post, I had a error with Telenav but downgrading and reupgrading and not backing it up will solve it. Overall everything went fine!

I upgrade all the time and haven't reinstalled TeleNav in ages. Before you downgrade, what is the error? Do you have Documents To Go installed?

I only got an error when I tried running Telenav on 4.5. But I have been researching the issue and I found out from other sources that once you downgrade and upgrade again without backing up Telenav, you would just have to redownload Telenav and it will work. My problem is simple I think. I dont get any prompts to downgrade back to 4.2 or something. All I wanna do is downgrade then upgrade again without backing up Telenav. Thanks for the quick reply!

I can save you hours of downgrading and upgrading if you will answer the question...Do you have Documents To Go installed?

If you DON'T have Documents To Go installed, install it. Without Docs To Go installed, many 3rd party apps will throw java errors. Downgrading and upgrading is a waste of time. Install Docs To Go. If it still doesn't work, then delete Telenav and then reinstall it. That should save you about 2 hours of work.

HELP Error 567 when installing OS 4.5 -
07-24-2008, 11:08 PM
I downloaded 4.5.075, Installed Desktop 4.5 and it started the installation, but when the Curve restarted, it froze with a cryptic symbol with 567 shown below.
I've removed the battery and restarted several times, but it give the error quickly each time.
What should I do now???

507 just means there is no OS on the device. There's even instructions in the first post on what to do with a 507.

Working like charm. Only thing i noticed is that when i play video files sound and video is out of sync.
THanks a lot. Email is great now with bigger text and new design. Browser is really step ahead. Video recording is nice and finally voice recorder.
This is not a small update.
I know why i didn't jump on the iphone boat!

I've read talk of a .55 for the 8300 from somewhere. Anyone found this as an operator release?
Why? I'm suspecting a memory leak in .53. Available memeory seems to be going down by about a 1MB a day. But it's only been a few days, so this may just be me using all the apps more...

I have already deleted the vendor file. It still doesn't ask me to upgrade. I went through the upgrade process before so I presummed it would be the same. Not sure why it doesn't prompt me to upgrade.
