Default Latest OS: 8300 4.5.0.75 / 4.5.0.52 (MultiLanguage/East Asian Lang) - 07-17-2008, 01:59 AM

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8300 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.75 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.75
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.52
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.66
  • File name: 8300M_PBr4.5.0_rel75_PL2.7.0.66_A4.5.0.52_TIM_Ital y.exe
  • File size: 73.67MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here.

For East Asian Language Support: Click Here.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8300:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...east-asia.html

Note: Preinstalled wallpapers and folder icons are not included in this release.

Since there are no 8300 CDMA devices, yes.

CDMA devices are 8130, 8830, 8330.

I am also not aware of any media player bug, but I really haven't had it for that long either.
Any noteworthy changes from the previous .52 release?
Would anyone do me the favor of checking if it has the spanish VAD engine? Just check in the /java folder for net_rim_vad_engine_resource__es.cod and net_rim_vad_engine_resource__es_MX.cod and let me know if they are there. I'd do it myself but I'm at the office.
Thanks

Not necesarilly. Last version had spanish all-around except for voice asisted dialing, as it was missing those two .cod files.

i beleive the media bug refers to when you have to reformat your media card, thus losing all content on your card. I have the 4.5.0.52 OS since last week too and had this issue.

I wonder if this OS is the same or different, only different in the file is "TIM ITALY" part at the end.

Anyone have any issues so far?

Only thing i'm experiencing is how the new OS will not support the today plus theme, i will eventually get text messages stuck on the home screen, even after i open and delete it. anyone know a fix for this?

No need to lose everything. Check the sticky in the media forum about card scanning problems and it will show you how to fix the card issue.

Ok I ran into an issue. I had a call which I answered and as I hung up the phone froze. I took out the battery, put it back in and then it freezes at 89% verifying security software. What can I do to fix this issue?

I just installed .37 2 days ago- bad timing on my part. Is there an area in the forums that discusses the differences between the two? You say to dump .37 and load .52- is there any advantage to the newer version other than being newer?

Thanks,
John

Yep, there are many threads and posts of the improvements of this release.

The primary one is the ability to enter text and press submit (usernames, passwords, forums) in the browser window.

No.

8300 = 8300
8330 = 8330

8300 ≠ 8330

Anyone tried this with a T-Mobile SIM? I know the SIM freezing issues have mostly been reported on 8320s on T-Mobile, but still.

Also, if I optimized things (removed apps, wallpapers, media files, etc. that I didn't want eating memory) last time I installed an OS, will I have to go through that same process each time I install an OS, or is once good enough?

What BB do you plan on installing this on? I see your with Verizon and this release is only for 8300 GSM models.

The bug I'm talking about is playing music I noticed using shuffle and when you skip a track it will give an error then skip like two or one track then start playing the rest of the songs. You can do this a couple of times.

The files aren't there. I also need VAD in spanish, is there any way to install those .cod files from previous 4.2 versions?

Does anyone have speaker problems? i have some kind of "drops" durning call, the person on the other side hears some kind of drop outs (like the signal is going bad or something).. if i speak without using speaker it works OK. This problem was the same on two 8300 units both running 4.5.0.52 so it's not unit related problem, heck both units are not more than 2 weeks old.

ah, yea it would be a problem.

You can't load 8300 OS on a 8320, or vice versa.

And your 8320 link is working now.

I just installed 4.5.0.75 and everything seems much slower than before. I don't remember what version I was using before exactly, but it was 4.2.XX. Is anyone else experiencing some sluggishness? Even the track ball responds some what slowly.

Edit: I'm using a 8310 now, not the 8100 listed under my name! Should update that.

I'm sure this is not connected in anyway, but after I installed Opera, the issue went away. Fast as it can be!

I deleted a couple extra themes i had that I no longer used and it fixed the issue for me.
