Default SMS Message Received from Blackberry always being SAVED in the recepient phone

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,
I am a new owner of the curve.

Question:
1. Abnormal SMS type being sent by blackberry. Everytime I send an SMS, the recepient always gets my messages with the 'sim card' icon besides the message (which is unusual) and after opening the message, it is automatically goes to SIM folder (which is eventually in the "SAVED MESSAGES FOLDER" instead going to the phone memory (this doesnt happen if the message is sent from any other phone than blackberry). This happens if the receipients use a Sony Ericsson (tried 2-3 models) and Nokia phones (havent tested if any other brand)

2. Aside from question 1, what is IN HOLSTER and OUT OF HOLSTER anyway? Can blackberry detect whether it is put in pocket and out of pocket?

Thank You,

Michael

What kind of phone is the person receiving the SMS message using? It sounds like a problem on their end.

There is a magnet on the back of your phone (the little gold part) and there are magnets in most cases for Blackberry devices near that same spot. So the phone is able to tell when it is in the case or not. This allows you to adjust the sounds or vibration when you get a message, phone call, email, etc.

If it's out of the holster that implies I have it in my hand or sitting on my desk somewhere. In the holster might be on my belt where I'm less apt to hear it ringing but the vibration would let me know I need to look at the phone.

I have tried to many models of Nokia and SE phones..everybody automatically receives the SMS in the SIM card..not to their phone. I am using the 46 build firmware.

LOL,

SMS is on the phone memory when received. The SIM card can only save so many SMS (32/64Kb SIMs can save about 10-20)- but its done DIRECTLY from the SMS options/menu BY the end user - not automatic on ANY phone (due to the small SMS repository memory - also the date saved is also lost when done).

Tell the recepient to use the Phones Address Book (set it to default), rather than the current SIM address book. On my SE phones if I don't HAVE a Phone Address Book (imported from the SIM or sync'd on desktop with Outlook) then any SMS/MMS/Incoming CALL I get, if I HAVE the number stored in the SIM then it's icon shows the SIM Address Book reference.

If you want to test my theory ... Pull out the SIM and replace it with another (by the same carrier - even if dead) power on the phone and the SMS should NOT be avail to read IF saved directly on the SIM. EDIT: just remember the SMS is routed to the IMSI/SIM not to the phones IMEI.

@above: that's what I thought initially...
here's the deal:
1. This happens to ALL of the people who receive my SMS
2. All these people are (BY DEFAULT) receive SMS stored in their phone memory NOT in the SIM. If these people are to receive SMS from other device than my BB, the SMS would have been stored in the phone by default NOT in the SIM card.

This is very tricky since usually it's recepient who control where the SMS are stored despite wherever the SMS from. however, somehow my blackberry forces all SMS sent to be received (and stored) in the SIM card of the recipient.

This is odd. I don't see how anything on your end could affect how your recipient receive their SMS messages. You're sure they're SMS? Do you have delivery confirmation or something enabled?

@above: why would u want to save in the SIM? SIM can only save so much SMS in its tiny capacity

by the way, just want to update this thread...I HAVE SOLVED the problem..it seems that this is the firmware issue. I have updated the firmware to 4.5.0.75 and this weird symptom doesnt appear anymore...people are receiving my SMS messages through their phone memory..not in the SIM card.
