Make sure that if he had a BIS account that it was deleted as well (need to call the carrier for this).
It might be too late but if you can do this, I'd recommend wiping the device to start with a clean slate. It's under Security Options->General Settings. Bring up the menu and choose Device Wipe. You'll lose any email that you've received already and it will wipe out the calendar, address book, etc.
