Default Battery life after 4.5.0.52 - 07-22-2008, 03:06 PM

I upgraded from 4.2.0.180 to 4.5.0.52 a few days ago and everything seemed to be ok until today.

Today I noticed my curve felt a little warm but didn't really think anything of it. Later noticed the low battery display. I checked the status and battery is at 0%. Battery life has never been an issue with me until now. I charge in a cradle overnight every night.

My use hasn't really changed since upgrading. Has anyone else noticed a drop in battery life after upgrading.

Battery life gets hit when using the device on EDGE. I noticed this on versions after .37. It must use more power during transmitting or something...

I wonder if eventually we will be forced to upgrade the battery to the next one up that still fits in the same compartment and lid (8310)?
Seem like just like with other PC OS when they get advanced it also comes with higher resources utilization.

That might be even worse news for me then since I've been UMA all day today.

Any thoughts about the curve feeling a little warm today? It felt a little warm when I pulled it out of my pocket. I haven't noticed this before. I'm hoping this is coincidental and unrelated.

no issues here as i posted in the upgrade thread. sounds like you may have a program misfiring there somewhere just using processor all day. as far as my battery i talked on the phone for an hour and played with it alot that day and still had 60 percent 14 hours later and that was with bluetooth all day. i would do a battery pull and try your phone with out opening anything and see the batterylife then.

No issues here so far with battery life on my 8320 after upgrading to 4.5.0.52. In fact, it seems that I might be getting more life out of it.

I do not think that Seidio's battery would help the OP. Sounds like something was/is wrong for it to get that warm and the battery die that quickly. I tried the Seidio battery and it's extra capacity is only marginal. What I liked best was it was slightly thicker and made the door fit nice and snug.

I've noticed quite a bit of differnce with the 1500 mah battery from Seidio. The original was 1100mah and Seidio first came out with a 1300mah replacement. Now they offer a 1500mah battery and it lasts quite a bit longer than the original.

Getting WARM?! If that was power being taken out of the battery, I'd expect the battery to be lasting 10's of minutes, not 10's hours. It takes a LOT of energy to make something warm.

My own experience (so far) is that using 4.2 on a 8300 with standard battery would leave me with 85% at the end of the day with relatively little use. That may be 80% now under the same conditions with 4.5.0.52

After recharging, my battery seems to be lasting like it did prior to 4.5. I'm still not sure why the phone was warm. I'm assuming something was running that I wasn't aware of. Since the battery had fully drained I didn't really check. I had been playing around with the video camera on Monday-maybe that was left running somehow.

In any event, I decided a spare battery was a good idea and have ordered the Seidio 1500.

Thanks for all of the replies. This forum continues to impress me.

Using messenger apps will certainly drain your battery faster than if you don't use them.
