Default BB messenger help - 07-22-2008, 08:25 PM

Hello I'm new to the forum and new to blackberrys. My current problem is adding contacts to my bb messenger. I'm able to go to bb mesenger, options, add a contact, choose contact from address book, but when i send it to messenger contact I get a box that says "select a contact *empty*". And I can't do anything from there.

I have a 8330 and am on the sprint everything plan.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Jamie

Are you trying to add contacts that have PIN numbers attached to them?

I'm trying to add a contact that is in my address book. But I don't have the pin. Is there any other way to add someone without a pin?

Nope. BBM uses PIN to PIN messages, just with a friendly chat/IM like interface.

Okay can I text my pin to another blackberry user and have him request me as a friend? Or what's the easiest way to do it?

Yep, that will work. Also, if in the text message you type the word mypin just like that, it will enter your pin # automatically.

Cool, something else I didn't know. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Also adding by BIS email address works, here in the UK at least.

BBM uses either PIN or email for me.
