I'm new to the blackberrys and just picked my 1st one up Monday. How do I know what OS I have. I'm trying to download a new app and it's asking for my OS.

Yes that sounds about right for your device. Check the 8300 forum at the top, the sticky for the latest 8330 OS is listed there.
