I've upgraded to 4.5.0.81 (8310) and now my Bluetooth does not stay enabled through a reboot, restart, auto off/on etc.

I have to go back into options/bluetooth and reenable every morning so it can connect to my handsfree in the car. Very annoying.

Has anyone else seen this? or am I missing something obvious.

Otherwise its working very well (apart from some early problems with my 2Gb Micro SD card which were resolved by reformating)

I finally took the plunge and the new OS is great IMO. It would have been nice to support HTML email through the OS though.

Otherwise I like the new look and the new features. Weeeeeeeeeeeee.

I am on the OS just before this one .75 i think and i have full html email at the moment. I think it is down to your service provider upgrading their servers to handle it. i am sure someone will connect me if i am wrong.

RIM updated their servers worldwide in June/July and I believe that covers most all carriers on the HTML update.

Question Documents To Go - 08-08-2008, 11:14 AM

So I upgraded yesterday from OS4.2 to this new OS4.5.

The only difference that I have noticed so far is that I have an L shaped theme and the new video recorder feature. I thought that this new OS was suppose to have the Documents to Go feature.

If so, how and where to I find it?

Thnx!

Sure. I just went back onto the DM and scrolled down and saw that the Documents to Go box was unchecked. So, I just checked the box and clicked next, and it did it's thing and it was ready to go!

Does 4.5 come with any new themes? I.e. an L theme or a Today Plus?

I dont want to download a Today Plus for 4.2, upgrade to 4.5 then have to download and install another Today Plus.

Cheers

Thumbs up 4.5 8310 Rocks! - 08-08-2008, 08:07 PM

Hi...
This upgrade went smooth. Thanks John Clark for the link!!

This is a nice update. I got everything back. Including my 3rd party app - Follow Up. Video camera works, Blue Tooth works, GPS works, documents to go is loaded but I don't know about this app and will have to investigate this more.

The font in the address book, calendar and composing new email is great. I use the bb dimension icon theme. There is a bb dimension L theme that is loaded and one that I have not seen. I tried it briefly but like the dimension icon better. (my regular theme)

One word of caution. For those of you on the Bes, the update will backup your data and restore it. You will have to EA again as expected. I left my data on and should have wiped it after the update. The EA duped my calendar. No big deal but for some users this will be a pain. Address book is fine.

Another nice feature is the colors in the calendar. There are background colors that are light pastel that highlight the calendar entries. Nice!

H.

I was under the impression that you need to be at a newer version of the BES to support HTML email.

You need SP6 on BES for HTML.

Yes, HTML mail is working for me - BIS / 4.5.0.55.

Make sure you have enabled it in your mail options...

But the formatting on the .69 is really nice anyway. Calendar, Address Book etc. etc.

If you are using BIS, open the MESSAGES folder and choose OPTIONS then EMAIL SETTINGS.

Once you plug your phone in and the Desktop Manager recognizes it, click on Application Loader and start the process manually. If you do not see the 4.5 software in the list of applications that will be loaded when you get to that screen, then you:

1. Did not download and install the correct version of the Blackberry OS software for your particular model device.

or

2. Did not delete the correct vendor.xml file.

Hi there, I'm on ATT and I updated my BB to os 4.5 last night. I have both BES (work email) and BIS (google). I went to ATT site and resent the service book then go to email setting to have the email show html and image show automatically. However, when I go to my message to see the email from my google, the email still doesn't show it in html format. It still have the long link in the email. I also click on menu and I don't see the option to "get image". Am I doing something wrong? Please help. Thank you.

Are these emails you received before the update? You will only get new mails in html format.

Hi John, yes, these are the emails after the update.

Last night I followed you instruction by downloading DM 4.5 set it to BES support. Then I downloaded OS 4.5. Deleted vendor.xml then plugged in the BB "off line" mode. Then I went online to hook up to my company BES. Then I went to ATT BIS to send new service book. Did the battery pull... I got email from ATT that my email is registered (or something like that). When I went to email setting, I can see HTML option in there for my google email (BIS) but not on my work email (BES) which is fine for me.

However, all day today, all emails I received aren't displayed in HTML. When I clicked on menu, I didn't see "get image" option in the drop down menu either.

Do you have any suggestion for me please?

Thank you.

I know you mention this is on your BIS Gmail account, but is your BES also installed to Service Pack 6? I know that is required for BES mail... not sure about a BIS account on the same system. Maybe another here will know or confirm.

I'm using BIS, upgraded to 4.5.0.55 on my unlocked "at&t" 8310 with my t-mobile sim

I followed the direction for HTML email to be enabled but there's no option for HTML.

What can I do to remedy this?

Thanks!

I don't think my company BES is SP6. Umm, maybe I should deactivate my BB from company BES and is if having BIS gmail alone might allow me to see HTML?

Yes, I know having BIS alone will allow it if you have OS 4.5.

Also, I know having SP6 installed on your BES will enable it on the BES--I am just not sure how that controls the personal email accounts as well...

Okay, do you know if the drop down menu "get images" is part of OS 4.5 or part of service book? I update from OS 4.2 to 4.5. Thank you so much...

I only get that menu item for emails that have html formatting in them. All other emails (bis or bes) don't have it.

Even though I have the "Download Images Automatically" set to YES, I don't get the images autodownloaded. When I click on MENU > GET IMAGES to see the images, I get a warning "Downloading internet images can expose your address. Continue? Yes/No"

Why is the menu setting for auto download images not working?
