what are the chances of going from 4.2.2 to 4.5.0.81 [1] crashing my theme and [2] modifying all of my options? I will use desktop manager and not JL Commander....

I have not calculated those odds.

Have you, or is this a trick question?

Nope. My boss wants to upgrade his OS, so I figure why not go to 4.5? However, I don't want to lose all of his set options and theme.

Yes, updating your OS is not something you should do if you are short on time!

Default Cannot Upgrade my AT&T 8310 as of 9/24 - 09-24-2008, 07:15 AM

The upgrade did not work for my AT&T 8310, even with deleting the Vendor XML file. I am a BES user, so that may make a difference.

When trying to update, the Blackberry upgrade site tells me that my provider does not yet support 4.5.

Still waiting...

Cheers,
Rob

worked for me, took about 2+ hours total. the process creates a backup of your current 8310, and reloads it after the new OS is installed.

only weird thing was, after the new 4.5 was installed i did a hard boot (removed battery) and it took about 13 minutes to completely restart. seems to work fine though.

don't start this process unless you have some time to spare though.

If you follow the instructions above the update should work just fine, even if you are a BES user. If you are attempting the web update method, it won't work using the web update method.
