Default Another OS4.5 HEEEEEEELP!!! thread

Please Login to Remove!

So Install 4.5 a few minutes ago, and at first all is well. I change my theme back to Minimalist, and BAM! "App Error 523". Since it is now my set theme, i get it as soon as I reboot, and can't even remove it via the desktop manager, as I can never get all the way up and ruinning! Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!!

You don't always need to wipe a device with Error 523, IF you can remove the application from the loader. In your case, you may.

when I reinstalled my OS, it would have created a backup of the device correct? Where would that backup be? Sorry, but I haven't tinkered with my BB in quite some time.

Also, where can I find "JL_Commander"?? Thanks!

search your PC for the latest saved "*.ipd" file... the OS backup will have the name "loader" in it, could be in your My Docs folder or the Program Files/Research in Motion folder. After wiping and reloading the OS, you can backup from there all your personal data, settings, messages, calendar, etc.

Would "Reset to factory" work? What does that command do? Would it simply reset my theme back to the default without wiping my device?? Thanks!!

As JSanders says you may not need to wipe the device.

1. Remove the battery to reboot the device.
2. While the hourglass is spinning connect to the PC, run DM and open Application Loader.
3. Remove the theme.

You may need to try this a few times at different times while the hourglass is spinning but before it comes up and says app error 523.

already wiped... ran through the app loader to reinstall the OS, and now it's just sitting on "connecting to the device"... ugh.

Oh well, I've never had to wipe with an app error 523.

Just let it sit. It may take a little while.

I am now... What's odd, is the hourglass that's showing is the one from the theme that jacked my device, but that theme doesn't even show in my application list now! WTF, over...

EDIT: To make things worse, I'm not even at home. I'm in an out-of-town office (AT&T, lol), waiting to get this fixed before I head for home! My calander says Friday, but it sure FEELS like Monday!
