Default email getting slammed

Please Login to Remove!

I asked this question a while back but it's happening to me again and I can't find my former post in the archives.

My 8300 is sending about 100 messages per minute to my home email address. What did I do to deserve this and what do I need to do to fix it?

Are they like this:

I keep getting odd emails from RIM - BlackBerryFAQ

Otherwise try deleting the service books for that email address on your BB and resending service books

Deleting the Service Books stopped it.

How do I resend my service books?

Thanks Nick.

I'm still having a problem though. I deleted the 2 service books that related to the eddress that was getting slammed, but I just started getting them again at the same eddress. Do I need to delete ALL the service books? If so, can I delete them all at one time or do I have to do it one at a time?

This is aggravating! I deleted the email address service books and the desktop service books and I'm back to more than a 100 emails per minute.

My BB has slowed to a crawl.

Thanks for y'all's help. Sometime during the night the emails stopped. Wow! What an experience!

Have you changed any settings that may have caused this?

Sounds like something is getting bounced back and forth. Check your filters and possibly delete that email account and restart it again.

This is the first I have ever heard of this

Maybe it is the Desktop Manager that is setup to re-direct your emails from your computer?

This is what I would check. If you installed the Desktop Manager and picked the Redirector option strange things will happen if you're not using the redirector (and you're probably not).

This has happened to me two times now. Both times when I was doing a backup to my computer.

I deleted the email account that was involved on my service books as well as the Desktop. What do I need to do to resend them? I did a battery pull after deleting them and then again tonight.

Now I have a new problem. My calendar is completely gone. I really rely on it...probably too much. What do I need to do to get it back?

And to get the service books back go to options>advanced options>host routing table>menu>register now

Both of these suggestions are already mentioned in this thread, by the way

Yes, the emails say the same thing that is in the link you sent. I just didn't see what to do after deleting the service books. And Nick, I apologize. I didn't see the 1st reply when you told me how to resend the service books.

Will this happen everytime I do a back-up?

What do I need to do to get my calendar back?

If you follow the directions in that link and reinstall desktop manager using the BIS setup instead of desktop redirector, you will not get those anymore. Resending the service books should get your calader back for that email address, or re-sync it with outlook.

You've been very helpful. I got my calendar back after resending the service books, doing a battery pull and then a restore from the desktop manager.

I definitely have desktop redirector issues since, when I did my restore I started getting me same email from before. I deleted the desktop service book and the messages stopped.

The only place I can find redirect settings is in desktop manager > email settings > general tab : then box saying "redirect incoming messages to your device" is checked. Is that the box I need to uncheck to stop the messages?

Since it I need to reinstall my desktop manager, how do I do that? Do I delete it from my computer using control panel then reinstall it from the CD-ROM that came with the BB?

Addendum: as I was typing this, the same emails started showing up again...30 minutes after the desktop service book was deleted. I then did a battery pull because the display wasn't working right on the handheld. Then my calendar disappeared again.

I had the same problems and removing the desktop redirector solved it. So for the time being, I am connecting to Exchange via OTA/BIS. Hopefully adding BB Professional (BES Lite) soon though.

The message showed up intermittantly all day today, even with the desktop service book deleted. When I resend the service books, the calendar disappears. To get my calendar back, I do a back up, then I get all the emails. I'm in a vicious circle

How do I reinstall the Desktop Manager then change the Redirect setting?
