Default SIM Card Rejected - Blackberry 8320

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I have a Blackberry 8320 and just out of the Blue today, it says my SIM card is rejected. However, I am still connected to Wifi. I tried pulling the battery, and the SIM card, but still no luck. Any ideas on what I should do? Do you think I should just run down to T-Mobile and get a new one? I tried searching and I found some very similar issues, but no solutions. Thanks in advance for any help!

What version of the handheld OS are you running?

Oops... I forgot to add that. I am not running a beta. I am running the official OS release by Orange. v4.5.0.52

Released doesn't mean finished or latest. Some consider 4.5.0.52 beta.

You may have a case of fried SIM card. Call T-Mobile and ask for a new SIM card.

Darn... when doing a backup, are my contacts backed up as well? I hardly remember. Oh and by the way, I have had this OS for over a month.

you can try taking a pencil eraser and clean the metal contacts. I've seen it before where after cleaning it the card worked just fine afterwards. If that doesn't then you probably have to get a replacement card.

If the contacts are stored on the device and you do a full backup then yes it will be saved.

Nothing on the SIM card is backed up.
The data on the BB itself is backed up.

Yes, but your contacts should be stored on the device, not the SIM card. Unless you have them set to do so.

Yep.. that's about how long it takes for that beta OS to fry your SIM in a T-Mobile device.
This is a pretty well known issue.

Hmmm... Too bad really. When I get the new SIM card, would you guys recommend downgrading my OS?

Which 4.5.0.52 do you have installed?

4.5.0.52 / 4.5.0.37 <--- fryer
or
4.5.0.75 / 4.5.0.52

Well I went to T-Mobile and they were all very nice (like usual). I got a new SIM card and everything is just grand now. All my contacts are on my phone and it is like this whole thing never happened.

Thanks for the help everyone!

So what steps did you take to ensure it doesn't happen again?

Just a little hope.

It wasn't the "fryer" OS, so I am not too worried.
