Default I Want a Curve 8320

Please Login to Remove!
T-Mobile is the only one who carries them from what I can tell. The T Mobile coverage in my area if awful. Can I buy one and unlock and take it to AT&T or Verizon?

You can buy a TMobile Curve and take it to AT&T after it is unlocked. You can't take it to Verizon because Verizon is not GSM.

You can probably find an unlocked Curve on ebay.

Agreed, Verizon has NEVER had sim cards and they are on GSM, most all other carriers have sim's which will work if you can find it unlocked.

I think there is a few people that have the 8320 on AT&T...just make sure you buy it from a good place. There are some times in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum on what to look for

Verizon is NOT on GSM, they are on CDMA. CDMA devices do not have SIM cards.

You can take an 8320 and use it on AT&T, but you will not get UMA voice over Wifi. AT&T does not support it.

Well, there are literally hundreds of threads about unlocking, but I'd suggest you check out our sponsors (Horizon Wireless) for unlocking.

You may be able to buy it already unlocked. That would be my preference. Otherwise, you'll need to add $20-30 to price you pay for unlocking.

Make sure you read the FAQ on buying a used BB on eBay (or anywhere for that matter). Could save you many problems.

As previously pointed out, the 8320 is intended for the T-Mobile network and it's UMA feature will not work on AT&T. AT&T has an almost identical device called the 8310 - it's only big difference is added gps but no wi-fi.

Touché!!! You couldn't use it on a CDMA handset. The reason for issuing a sim card would be if a subscriber was in a country that didn't support the CDMA network. Verizon could issue a sim card that could be used on a GSM handset (and roam off a Verizon partner). Hence "technically"

Why not just buy an 8310 for AT&T?

We had some users who did not want to purchase a new BB. (we use A
t&t at work) They showed up having a CDMA device with no sim slot... (it will not work this way.) Or maby I could not figure out how to put the sim card in!

If they showed up with an 8830, then you could use the SIM card. Outside of North America, of course.
