I had never noticed that I cannot receive mms messages until today and that my trackball does not feel like it "clicks" when pressed.
Does anyone else's trackball NOT feel like it "clicks" when you press it?

Anyway.....does someone know what can be wrong with my Blackberry Curve 8310 since I am unable to receive mms messages even though I am perfectly able to receive sms messages? Today, my aunt sent me a picture and I didn't get anything. I thought it was maybe because he has Verizon and I have ATT. She then sent the same picture to my cousin who has a BB Pearl with ATT as well and she was able to receive it. I then changed my SIM card to my cousin's phone and I was able to receive another picture my aunt sent me.

Also, my brother has the same phone as me (BB Curve 8310) and he is able to receive mms messages too from any carrier and we are on the same Family Plan. Does anyone know what might be wrong???

Also, his BB Curve trackball feels like it "clicks" when pressed as well as my cousin's Peal, yet my BB Curve feels like nothing. Sometimes I press the trackball 2 or 3 times because I don't know if it really did select what I wanted or not.

I see you're on AT&T... do you have a data plan? If not, you probably don't have the necessary service book. The majority of the AT&T reps will tell you that you cannot send/receive MMS. That is NOT true, and if the rep insists that it is, hang up and keep calling the customer care line and insisting that you CAN send/receive MMS as long as they send the service book to you. It took me about 5 calls to get the service book sent to my wife's Pearl. (I have a data plan on my Curve, so it was not an issue for me.)

O yes....I forgot to add that I AM ABLE TO SEND MMS MESSAGES and other people do get them, however, I can not receive MMS messages myslef. :(

And no...we do not have a data plan, just unlimited txt messages (including sms, mms, and IM).

According to what you replied, if I didn't have the necessary service book on my curve, wouldn't I then be unable to SEND mms messages as well?

I browsed through my phone right now and spotted SERVICE BOOK under ADVANCED OPTIONS and saw that I have:
MMS Client [MMS] and MMS Transport [WPTCP].

Those are the two... so it doesn't appear to be related to service books.

Have you tried the battery pull fix? With the phone powered on, remove the battery, keep it out for 30 seconds then replace and allow it to reboot. I had a similar problem after upgrading and the pull fixed it. Remember the phone must be ON when you pull the battery.

Edit: The AT&T Unlimited Text does cover MMS. No need for the data plan.

Simple question that may have been overlooked.... Have you had someone else try and send you an MMS to make sure it isn't something wierd with the other person's phone.

Yes...I tried the "battery pull fix" and nothing. So when you upgraded, you couldn't receive mms messages either? I have been unable to receive mms messages since I received the phone, way before I upgraded to OS4.5, which, in fact, was this morning, so I'm POSITIVE that the upgrade is not the problem, since I was unable to receive mms even when I had OS4.2.

Yup. My cousin (ATT Pearl), aunt (Verizon), other cousin (ATT Motorola), and brother (ATT Curve) have all sent my pictures and I have not been able to receive not even one. I too have sent them all pictures today and they all were able to receive my pictures, including my brother who is on my same plan with my same phone.

That is absolutely true, but it was like pulling teeth to find a rep who understood that and was willing to send the service books. Apparently their 'script book' says differently.

Yea...I dont have a data plan because I have the unlimited txt, which covers mms and I don't use the internet, so yea... I dont NEED IT.

However, I still cant receive mms, just sms.

This happened to me before too. I was able to send MMS, but when I received them my phone would never "retrieve" the image. My browser always came up with the "Forbidden" error too. I just called support and both problems were fixed quickly.

When ATT upgrades to OS 4.5 you will be able to. If you are willing to use another carriers OS you can send and recieve MMS and IM as well. 4.5.0.55

To the OP: When you pulled out the battery was the phone on or did you turn it off first? If you turned it off, then pull the battery again this time leaving the phone turned on.

Some other things to check:

1. The firewall. Go to Options > Security Options > Firewall. Make sure the box next to MMS is not checked. This will be under the heading "Block Incoming Messages."

2. The MMS settings. Go to Options > MMS. Make sure Multimedia Reception is set to Always.

Then test by sending yourself an MMS.

Thnx for everyones help so far, but I have tried EVERYTHING I could think of and the things people have advised me to do here, but still nothing had worked. I never received the mms I sent myself.

The next step would be to contact your carrier. There are a number of settings on your account that if not done correctly could prevent MMS from working.
